chimera1868
OK I picked this up at a local pawn shop I can return it but a few things don't add up with the painted cavities. It has a original sales receipt from 1992. I just don't know if it was painted or that's how they were back then. any info for this would help. I could not get the serial number to appear in the pics but its 92472923 I believe it was hard to make out the last 2 numbers. It is a black studio with a ebony fret board. thanks

cjmwrx
Looks like a standard Ebony LP Studio with Gold HW.
strat-o-steve
I noticed some black overspray on your truss rod nut. My guess is that it was refinished.....
DestructorsKillMusic1982
Looks legit to me, my black Studio LP also had painted cavities when I bought it as a project body to restore.
chimera1868
thanks for the reply's everyone seems to think its legit but has been refinished. It plays fine has a nut on the truss rod. Pickups have the Gibson logo. Do they have serial numbers on them usually?
btoth76
Hello! It's authentic for sure. One thing seems to be incorrect: '92 Studios with ebony fingerboard had metal tulip machine heads, color-matched with the rest of the hardware. My 1992 black, ebony-boarded Studio had all-gold hardware, unlike Yours. Any drill holes visible on the back of the headstock? Cheers... DestructorsKillMusic1982
I'm pretty sure I saw black LP Studios with non-metal 'green-key' tulip tuners like this one, they had 2 when I bought my white LP Studio w/gold hardware and ebony board and green-key tulip tuners (but it was a few years after this, in 1996.) They were identical to my white one except in black, but I'm not sure if the boards were rosewood or ebony on those.
chimera1868
thanks for the info. with all the info and taking it to a local guitar tech found out that it is legit. just had a little work done to it over the years. The biggest thing done to it was the nut was replaced. Everything else is stock
LarryUK
Slotted posts in the bridge? That's not original.
chimera1868
I never noticed that...It does not really bother me that the bridge may not be stock I just got it set up and plays great everything that I thought that it would be.
