cookieman15061 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Well what's a guy to do with his income tax check? Will be applying a bit of lemon oil during the string change to darken up the fretboard a bit but man such a great guitar for the price. I'll be getting some better pics on the next sunny day.
Morkolo Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 What a beauty! I really like the dressed up look of the Classic Customs.
charlie brown Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 HNGD, Cookieman! Everyone needs a nice new "Classic Custom!" CB

cookieman15061 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Wow. It's starting to get hard to keep up with your new guitars. Haha, Maybe true Sat but we never post anything when we sell some off. I've sold 3 recently, 2 of them for more than I bought them for and 6 total in the past year. I decided that if I'm not playing it anymore its time to move on. My bases are pretty covered at present with my Les Paul Classic Custom 52 Telecaster, Clapton Strat, Lennon Casino, Rickenbacker 360/12, Gretsch White Falcon, Gretsch 6118 Double Annie

JM2112 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Congratulations!!!! That is just sweet, sweet, SWEET!!!! [thumbup] Enjoy it!!!
cookieman15061 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Congratulations!!!! That is just sweet, sweet, SWEET!!!! [thumbup] Enjoy it!!! Yeah it really is! We get a lot of post criticizing Gibson when they screw it up, well everyone should know that these baby's are just fantastic and under $1800. They got it right and I love the feel of the baked maple FB. The weight is solid but not too heavy and coming from a guy that has broken both his collar bones, playing long gigs with a heavy guitar hanging off your shoulder can turn painful after a while. I played 6 different CCs plus 2 trad pros and all were excellent but slightly different. This one had the sound and feel I was looking for and the 60s neck is my favorite. It really is the best Les Paul I've ever played.
Namvet Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Absolutely lovely! I used Petros oil on my baked maple and it did a wonderful job.
surfpup Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 That is a looker! I might be tempted to put on some black reflector knobs myself.

That's just the way it is I guess, people love to complain far more than praise. I got a LP Classic Custom too, but in wine red. Mine was perfect right out of the box, and I LOVE IT! The ebony finish was a close second choice for me. I sat in Guitar Center for several hours back in December playing all the different LP models, and for the same reasons as you mentioned I liked and settled on the LP Classic Custom too. At the moment I think it's the best guitar for the money Gibson has available. Happy playin' to ya'!!!!

Congratulations Cookie My pupil bought his new Classic custom to Guitar society yesterday and it sounded absolutely lovely -Bags of sustain. He has the cream one and it has more of a touch of Randy Rhoads about it. Matt
