xdamerx
I'm just curious, but can you completely customize the tuning on robots? For instance, I play in drop A#(I know I know, it's low, but it sounds soo awesomely heavy, and I can't be bothered to buy a 7 string...again!), but can you set it up and all so that it automatically tunes to that? Or is it just have those preset settings and you have to use those? Been thinkin about getting one as I hate tuning and there are some pretty nice lookin robots! Might wait until they come out with the all white with gold hardware....if they ever did!!! PS-did the subject make any sense? It was supposed to be that song, by Stix I think!.. you know, that roboto one!
SRV-Zeppelin
Yes, the Robots come with 6 preset tunings but 5 of them are completely customizable and can be set and saved to your preferences. (the 6th tuning is standard EADGBE.) And as to the title- I thought you were speaking Spanish. "what do cats have to do with robot guitars?!" ... xdamerx
Spanish! haha. Thanks for that, thats pretty cool! I watched that little video demonstration on the gibson site of a couple little things you can do with robots, and I thought they were pretty cool! Just can't imagine what would happen if something went wrong with the electronic! Not sure what cats have to do with robot guitars? Ugh, can you buy robot cats?.. I give up! SRV-Zeppelin
Not sure what cats have to do with robot guitars? Ugh' date=' can you buy robot cats?.. I give up![/quote'] Well you have to remember that a cat and a robot (ie. Transformers, The Terminator) are two completely different things. One is a soul-less, powerful, silent ruthless killing machine... and the other's a robot.
retrosurfer1959
So you were trying to quote - Domo arigato misuta Robotto which is thank you very much Mr Roboto in Japanese.
stymye
When you tune so far down isn't it almost necessary to go to a larger guage of strings to regain the tension and eliminate fret buzz? I don't see the advantage unless you keep it tuned consistently low, with larger guage strings, but that would eliminate the need for a self tuning guitar. than theres the added issue of the nut grooves and larger/smaller strings. I know most of the downtune guys use atleast 11 to13 guage sets anything smaller is like playing a slinky or is this not an issue with the robot? DiamondJig
http://www.gibson.com/robotguitar/guitar.html everything you need to know about the ROBO. Checkout the manual. BTW if the ROBO ever failed and could not be fixed, you can disable the ROBO by pulling out the buttons on the tuners and you have a regular manual guitar.
