guitar dog Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Just ordered the ZZ Guitar Works EZ mount bigsby system for my Mahogany Les Paul. Saw the ZZ guitar works video on another post.It looks very easy to install (and remove), no holes to drill or any mods required. I'll post pics once ith comes in. Here is a before picture: and the installation video from ZZ Guitar Works:
guitar dog Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Just got the EZ mount system - completly installed in less than 30 minutes. No holes to drill, no structural mods to the guitar. Everything needed was in the box: Here is the before photo: Removed the stopbar and bolts, left the inserts/bushings. Removed the strap button:
guitar dog Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Time for a good cleaning before the insatllation: Mounting bolts back into the stop bar holes - they make both US and metric kits to fit Gibson or Epiphone: The kit came with a new strap button, I reused mine so I could keep my strap locks: Install Bigsby spring and washer:
guitar dog Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Add the included nut rub: New Strings: And finished - no holes to the body, easily reversable, I can take it off and reinstall the stop bar any time.
Dave J Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Very nice. I have the same guitar and was wondering how it would look, so thanks for your post. How does it sound and feel? Makes me want order a kit.
guitar dog Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 So far so good, I plan to give it a good workout tonight.
Malchik Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 What did that run you at? Was it cheaper than the official Bigsby copies?
guitar dog Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 About the same as the B7, but cheaper than a Bigsby and Vibramate. Allowed me to install without any holes or permanent mods.
Guest farnsbarns Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 About the same as the B7, but cheaper than a Bigsby and Vibramate. Allowed me to install without any holes or permanent mods. Hmmm, looks like a better product than the Vibromate to me. Very nice
guitar dog Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 That's why I like it - all one piece, doesn't look like something mounted on an adaptor.
