Gio Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 One of my favorite songs played with 2 J-45's...ok, the sound is slightly too electric, and yet I love it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrdQCepcgH0 These days I keep listening to theirs first records (especially "America" and "Homecoming"...amazing...).
Murph Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 They're playing locally soon, but I think one of the original members is dead. I loved the album with "Sandman" back in the hazy days.
BigKahune Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 One of my favorite songs played with 2 J-45's...ok, the sound is slightly too electric, and yet I love it! . . . <~video snip~> These days I keep listening to theirs first records (especially "America" and "Homecoming"...amazing...). Great Gibby spotting and a nice clip. . B) You've got me looking to pull those out for another listen. As I recall those albums had great sound/engineering work too. .
MissouriPicker Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I think these guys had and have some of the easiest-to-listen-to music that's been made. The music is typically smooth, easy for folks to sing-along with, and really kind of pleasant and relaxed. And I like all the imagery in their lyrics. Good video.
greatwhite_10 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Thanks for posting Gio. Good spot on the Gibbys. Smooth execution on the J45's.
zombywoof Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I never listened to them back in the day but based on what some of you folks are saying I might just have to give them a second look.

JuanCarlosVejar Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 those J 45's look like recent models maybe from the TV line ? JC
Aster1 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Loved most of their music back in the day and still now. Never warmed up to the Horse with no name monotone song. But, the other really made up for it to me anyway. Aster
eltonwce Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 George Martin, Who produced some of the Beatles also worked with America. That is why their work sounds so clear. He was a great producer in the 60's and 70's.
Pickax Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 those J 45's look like recent models maybe from the TV line ? JC That was my thought when I was watching the video. Great song - brings back memories of the 70's.

Aaaghhh memories! Loved their early work and records. This video lacked alot of the original sound and magic that their music originally had though. Sandman was and still is a favorite of mine!
MissouriPicker Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 My favorite America song is "Sister Golden Hair." Had my own sister-golden-hair-surprise back in "the day." And she was full of surprises and easy-on-the-eyes. The biggest surprise was that she was seeing another guy. He was surprised too...lol...But it turned-out okay for me. Met my wife about four months later.......Thanks for the memories, America.
Danner Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Nice video for sure, but those gibby's sound 'quacky' to me.

JC
MissouriPicker Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Cheese is good and so are crappy sounding Gibsons.
