Willmkent Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Hey All!! So here is a quick story of my first acoustic guitar that I have owned since I was about 13. It's an old Fender DG-7 and let me tell you, it has been through the ringer. Lazerface and myself were watching a video of zakk playing a cutaway acoustic on headbangers ball and I said "dude I want a cutaway acoustic guitar" so being that I owned another perfect acoustic I decided to make this one a cutaway. Lazerface and Myself decided to take a coping saw and literally put a cutaway in it our selves and then afterward we hot glued a cut out of a drum head over it. Its pretty cool how it turned out and ever since it has been our beat up guitar. Our drummer actually asked my to smash the back a little on his head, we've dropped M-80 firecrackers in it and such, so it has been a lot of fun to own. Here is the best part, it still sounds pretty good and plays well. This will definitely have a place in my collection at all times. Here are some pics.
DanvillRob Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Just consider it a "Neck-Facing Sound Hole" and be done with it!
Willmkent Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 haha yea this thing has been through a lot, I forgot to mention that when I was younger I tried to make a truss rod adjustment without knowing what I was doing so it has been broken for years and surprisingly stayed decently straight. Although I don't believe I have changed the strings on this bad lad in about 8 years either.
krock Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Thats funny, I changed the strings on my 79 Yamaha acoustic a few months ago. Thats the only time I can remember changing those stings in a few years. I had a old set of new Martin strings and was going to use those strings on the guitar. Opened the pack and those strings were rusted; badly....... Is it humid where you live?
