badbluesplayer Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 What's the guy in the captain's uniform playng? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mig7E5FtaAI
bonzoboy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I couldn't focus on it too good because the old eyes aren't as good as they used to be but judging from the body shape it looks like it could be either a Hamer from the mid to late 70s or early 80s or an Electra that was imported by St. Louis Music Supply during the same time period. As I said I couldn't get a real good look but the body shape is very similar to these models.
badbluesplayer Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 I thought these guys were all playing new Gibson instruments, no? Looks like a Midtown body with a Firebird looking headstock.
T Bone Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Went full screen, does look like it says Gibson on the truss rod cover. Sort of an F style headstock, but not like a Firebird. Single F hole on upper bout, asymmetrical double cutaway, 2 Humbuckers, two pots and a toggle on the upper bout. Hmm...
T Bone Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Thats a Epi Wilshire Pro http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Designer/Wilshire-PRO.aspx No, look closer. F hole on the upper side (semi-hollow). Only two pots (presumably one volume, one tone) and toggle on the upper bout. Way different (neck is about right, though the TRC again looks like it says Gibson, definitely not this large E).
T Bone Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 ^^^Not really, Gibson Las Vegas High Roller Ah, there you go. Looks like you nailed it. And I missed the F hole on the bottom. Also think the one in the ad may have had solid block inlays, then again, maybe not. But this certainly is the guitar. Well done!
badbluesplayer Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Maybe but I liked the tunes the Fender Guys came up with before these guys, way better..... Me too. Nice axe, though.
