Should Gibson make a new Les Paul?

I agree that changing the tradition or the standard (in the shape or design) it may be undue risk. Consumers as well as funs of any music band or singer are not like when a habitual style is changed.

Though I understand Lashurst, sometimes we want to get something new (progressive) from brand firms.

And as regards electric guitars I think it would be active electronics, for example, but not change in the shape or traditional designs, i.e. search for a new guitar sound by means of this active electronics, pickups, with a glance to interaction of the guitar with the computer (as it would be convenient for the home studio).

And here in this area is still quite a lot is not unused in full measure.

If Gibson is looking for things to make, they could turn their patterns upside down and start cutting some left bodys...and not just a few. The disparity between models available is surprising to say the least.....
