Hi guys, this is my first post in this forum and I need your help...

I'm in love with the gibsons, and in the past years I've had many of montana-based acoustics that I traded/sold (hummingbird tv limited run, sheryl crow, sj200 historic collection, j45 ADj, j45 mc, firebird custom(sadly to say, a bad one with many structural defects),

and some Guild (F50, F50R, D55). The last guitar that I bought (2y ago) it's a SJ200 custom(natural), a beatiful abalone inlayed jumbo, it sounds great plugged or unplugged, but it's a little heavy for my shoulder (because of fishman ellipse aura? dunno...). yesterday, while I was looking for a backup guitar (I was oriented to an hummingbird MC) I've seen in a "friendly" guitar store here in rome (italy), a freshly arrived Doves in flight, undoubtedly eye-catching guitar (like all abalone inlayed gibsons for my taste), much lighter than my SJ200 Custom obviously, and I have the chance to trade my Jumbo (plus some cash, in the specific case the equivalent amount in euros of a new J45MC) and take home the doves in flight...Now I'm really undecided, both guitars have almost the same decorations, and I like very much my J200 custom, but the doves in flight is a piece of art, not easy to find...and the sound is really impressive!!! The alternative is to keep the J200 and look for a hummingbird or something similar as backup guitar...

What would you do?

I should go to a good doctor? [confused]

It's VINTAGE TIME!!! I think you need some old tonewood to counterpoint the 'new' tone. Those decorative aspects are tinsel and a waste of lire (or is it euros). Invest your cash in the warmth of elderly Gibsons. But don't take the ones I'm looking at. Seriously though, maybe a nice small bod guitar would complement your big gun. Remember...it's no 'work of art' if it's pressed and copied hundreds of times in a factory.

Thanks guys, today I'll try to make a direct comparison between the j200 custom and the DIF in terms of sounds...You're right Juan, aesthetically, both are nicely blinged, but I have to admit that the beautiful flamed maple in the DIF really attracts me...

I finally kept the J200 Custom ... and I also took the DIF!!! after a long brief with the retailer, he's agreed to partially trade the DIF with a stratocaster custom shop (initially refused by the seller) and some cash (not so much).

Ok, is not a backup guitar that initially I was searchin' for, but Lord, it sounds wonderful, and has a skinny neck which makes it very comfortable to play, totally different from other Dove and Firebird that I had...
