L5Larry 202 Report post Posted March 10, 2012 Pretty cool from a historical point of view. Definitely one for the "list". My hands immediately started playing Allman Brothers songs. It was strung up with some pretty serious wires, probably 12's, and the action was set just a little higher than "normal". The finish was kind of an odd light walnut 'burst, with only the bevels being darker. I had also always wondered what Derek had originally done to anchor the front of the Maestro cover. It seems he had a custom bracket made which Gibson has duplicated in fine fashion. I don't generally have much to contribute to the SG forum, but this was just too cool not to share. I guess now I'm going to have to check out a production model.

Did you get to run it up through good amp? how was the tone?
