wheelsdeal
Hello everyone.I am currently looking to buy a new Gibson Explorer 76 RI and while there is no stock in my country on a quick search i found in some online retailers that they came with granadillo fingerboards instead of rosewood on the ebony color and ebony on the classic white.Official Gibson site dont mention of granadillo fingerboard on the Explorer so anyone has any info on this? Thanks. Jock68
Just got my first Explorer today and it looks like a rosewood fretboard, it was produced on the 11th June 2011, lovely natural wood with gold hardware. Jock

pfox14
I know Gibson is "experimenting" with other species of wood for fingerboards including granadillo and baked maple, so it's possible that newer guitars like the Bird are being shipped with these materials instead. Thunderhorse71
Anyone try to "ebonize" one of these yet by staining it darker and oiling it?
padilha
Anyone try to "ebonize" one of these yet by staining it darker and oiling it? When I bought my flying V, a 2008 model which was more than 2 years in the store, its fretboard (north american rosewood) came very dry and light coloured. I just used Dunlop 65 Lemon Oil and the wood became more vivid. Take it to your guitar tech!
