Polygrampa
hello. I'm George. 1963, my mother bought me a Gretch Anniversary single pickup slim hollow body. That was the beginning for me. 14 nice guitars later, I bought my first Gibsons at a garage sale!!! I am absolutely gobsmacked. I now have a J-45 and J-55. They are showing only normal wear. Going to luthier today. TBC

Titan II
Hello all, My name's Rene. I'm from Vancouver, British Columbia, and it's a pleasure to be here. I've been lurking and learning for the last couple of months. I found this forum while researching a D-wight Yoakam Honky Tonk Deuce.🎲🎲 I was presented with the opportunity of picking up a very early model Deuce (SJ RW SPEC) and. being a big Dwight fan who's always wanted a J-45, this situation seemed perfectly created by the Universe. I've been told that this is a special guitar, but that's a topic for a separate thread. You folks all seem very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable, so I thought I'd join the group. Please be patient with me. I belong to other forums, but I'm still learning the etiquette here. Feel free to steer me in the right direction if I overstep. I ended up purchasing The Deuce🎲🎲 and would love to learn more about it if any of you have any knowledge to share. She's been well used but is a dream to play compared to my other guitars, and she sounds amazing. I will start a new thread when I have more time, and fill you all in on the backstory and throw up some pictures. I appreciate y'all! Well, I've got the first generation G45 Studio and mine is excellent. Zero problems. Put some Elixir 12 gage Nanowebs on it a few months back and it has been a great guitar the whole time I've owned it. I've only ever gotten to play one of the new G45s, and I was underwhelmed by the feeling and sound of it. I'm not exactly sure what the big difference is, other than the player port, but my first generation G45 just feels and plays more comfortably. Brancher
Hi Folks! New participant here (been registered for while though)... So I am her because I have entered the mystical world of Gibson J-variance. A few months ago, I picked up a 2014 J35 (1936 Banner Headstock reissue), mostly because I had just sold a Larrivee L09 and had a few bucks burning a hole .... and I wanted to try out this I really like this one - it had been a collector's, all original except for a custom J50 tigerstripe pick guard, and in impeccable shape. After wrestling with Gibson's unfortunate choice of the Baggs Element pickup for awhile, I'm currently using a Mojotone NC-1 shp, looking for other alternatives as well (maybe an Anthem SL). I like the very smooth and powerful low end (sometimes too powerful), not too crazy about the chunky neck (although it is fine for fingerstyle play for me), and this one is opening up pretty quickly as well. Excellent fingerstyle instrument, a touch brash with a pick .... Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions on really good pickup systems for this one, feel free to suggest! Thanks! G Man
New guy here, although I've been playing Gibson acoustics for a while now. Lately however, my Gibson's have started to outnumber my Martin's, and that's not a bad thing. The two above are getting most of my play time these days. I'm loving the J-45TV, its a 2015 and is still continuing to open up in the best way. The 2021 J185 52 Historic is new to me a couple of days ago and has been hard to put down since. I did not realize a maple b&s guitar could have so much warmth. Anyway, looking forward to joining the fun.
BigYellowOne
Hey long time lurker and long time Gibson acoustic enjoyer. I’ve only owned one however, though that is bound to become 2 in the next couple of years. My main acoustic is a ~2004 Hummingbird Historic Collection (the first(?) run of 48 historics that are long scale for whatever reason.) It was my dream guitar and I’ve owned it since sometime in 05 though I’m at least the second owner. I love the sound and vibe and it has been a perfect songwriting companion. My next will be something from the J45 family, and probably will be old. I am in grad school and putting money away to buy myself a graduation gift. Don’t mind the knife, I took this for another forum to feature two “forever” buys I’ve made.
roper
Howdy! Tim from Montana. My one and only Gibson is a 2000 ( I think) J100XT. I treasure it. Bought it new. Been through it all and recently repaired and reset. Glad to be here!
MadMike62
Hi, Mike, from somewhere northwest of Montreal (CAN). Bumped into my dream acoustic guitar while on vacation and visiting a few music shops in southern Ontario last summer: 2016 natural SJ-200. Already had a G-200 and an Epi 12string jumbo. Recently sold a J-45 Southern Jumbo, unfortunately, but didn't really bond with this magnificient guitar so she went in more loving arms. Planning to add a Hummingbird if I can find one in good shape at a decent price. Looking to change that red PG on the SJ-200, in favor of black, but Gibson doesn't make one, so I'll have to go somewhere else... Cheers,

stokes
Hi, new to this forum but not new to guitars. I've been playing for 57 yrs. Started as an acoustic player and switched to electric sometime around 1973 and really didnt touch an acoustic since then. Started learning amp repair back in '69 when I worked at a local tv repair shop in my neighborhood,in Bklyn NY, more like interned, I was 14 at the time and got $10 a week and a wealth of learning and did a lot of sweeping up.Was mainly a hobby til about 1982 when I set up a shop in my house and have been doing it as a sideline thing ever since. Back in 2013 I had an accident on my Harley and mangled my left hand/arm pretty bad.Have been struggling to get some of my guitar playing ability back. Pretty much lost any hope of ever playing in a band or in front of anybody till about 3 yrs ago when I decided to give the acoustic a try again, since I dont have the need to amplify the noise, lol. So I bought a D'Angelico EX 63 archtop and then a Breedlove 12 string. My sons got an early inheritance when I gave them both most of my electric collection, a PRS, Gibson reverse Firebird, Gibson ES 320. I kept a Tele and a Tradition Les Paul. So, now to what brings me here to the Gibson forum. I am picking up a 2001 J-150 next week and have found very little info on the web about them, so here I am. Hope to get some good info here and exchange any info I may be able to supply. Thanks for listening, I'm off to explore the forum.

Lymeyboy
Hi I'm Andrew from Dorset on the South Coast of England. I'm new to the forum after buying a 2010 Gibson 1930's AJ Limited Ed' in December last year. I've been looking for my dream guitar for years but I didn't really ever consider Gibson til a friend bought a SJ recently. I played it, loved it and then when I saw the AJ in a local(ish) guitar store it was love at first sight as well as first strum. The Adi 'top, rosewood B+S and longer scale fit me very well. Couldn't be happier! Hello to all 👋 Edited February 17, 2023 by Lymeyboy
Gibson29
Hello, Gibson fan here, 2 Gibson ukes, Uke-2, both 17 fretters from late ‘20s, J-45 ‘22. Buncha Martins, 00-17 ‘37, 0-18 ‘16, 000-28 ‘19, and a Martin Taropatch roughly 1920s, restored, had wood tuners, now sports PegHeds. New obsession? J-45. Why. Seriously, why. More of a statement of incredulity as Martin has always been the gravitational force.
Pimouss
Hi, I created a topic needing for help to find what model is my 2008 J45 but didn't came here. I guess I'm too shy... So here I am with the guitar near her sister. Yes I like tobacco sunburst 😁 On the left the 2008 J45 true vintage in question. On the right a unique "noname" jumbo from 1968 made apparently by a german luthier. It's a solid sitka top with solid maple back and sides. Long scale. See you on the forum's topic ! Phil OKeefe
Hi, I'm Phil O'Keefe. I have been asked to assist with site admin stuff on the Gibson forums. I am the former site admin for Harmony Central. I am an audio engineer by education, and have written quite a bit about the subject and have written a bunch of gear reviews over the years for various industry magazines (Guitar Player, Keyboard, EQ, Electronic Musician, etc.) and have also done some writing for books. I still dabble in recording (I own Sound Sanctuary Recording here in Southern California), but my current day gig is as the Senior Editor for Gibson Brands. Yes, I own a few Gibsons (an SG, a couple of Les Pauls, and a Walnut Burst J-15), and a few Epiphones (an '01 MIK Peerless-built Casino, a '96 MIK Fine-built Les Paul Ltd. Edition, and a more recent MIC '61 SG with a Maestro), along with about two dozen other guitars and basses, roughly a dozen guitar and bass amps (including a MESA/Boogie Fillmore 25), about 75 mics, a bunch of other recording equipment (a whole studio's worth), and about 200 effect pedals from a variety of brands. Unless I'm admonishing someone for breaking the site rules or otherwise acting in an official capacity (and you'll know it when I am), any opinions I post here are my own. Any general opinions, and opinions expressed on matters relating to gear, recording, etc. are my own and not necessarily those of Gibson.
