LPDEN
I came across a Korina Epi Firebird that is equipped with non-traditional tuners that Epi was using on their last production runs of Firebirds that seemed odd at best. Unlike the traditional Gibson Firebird "banjo" stlye tuners, these use a thymbol-shaped tuning knob on the underside of the headstock thereby raising the post as it is loosened. Anyone own a Firebird with these tuners, and if so what is your opinion on them for tuning performance and stability? If you swapped them out, what did you go with and where did you buy them? The tuners are briefly seen in this video....

LPDEN
So was there a cost or availability issue with the banjo style tuners that these alternatives were chosen?
