charlie brown
Well, I personally NEVER get "bored" with Beatles Clips, Casino included, or otherwise! So...Post away!! I can just imagine how phenomenal they could have sounded "Live," with a decent sound system, back then! They sounded so great, anyway...just too bad it was so hard to hear them! Rabs
Why the hell did they stop them playing on the roof ???????????? Probably the old stuffy 60s government... probably didnt have a liscense or something stupid.. Either that or it was just part of the PR stunt ;)

I love seeing footage of London in the 60s :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWzs3YbtehI Great!!! (As Always) A real "laughter, through your tears," kind of moment. It was Such a special time, with a phenomenal band. Where does the time go?! For me, it's impossible, to watch their concerts, films, and such, and listen to their wonderful music, without smiling! I don't know, if that's because I grew up, with them... listening to their music, that is? But, that feeling has been there, from the very beginning. Even now, if I need a "pick me up," or something to get me out of a bad mood, all I have to do, is put on something "Beatles!" It still works! God, I miss those guys!! Thanks, for the post, Rabs! charlie brown
Also...can you imagine, playing outside, on a roof top, in January...in London?!!! BRRRRR! I was there, in October, several times, and it was already very damp, and cold! But, I suppose, if you're "used to it(?)"...it makes some difference. I'm surprised they could play at all! Much less, that well! CB

CB Thank you kind sir :) And yes there is something about them... I had a theroy that anyone born in the UK has the genetic memory of the Beatles music embedded into their subconscious. I gave a CD to my nephew and was told by his dad that when they listened to it in the car that he sang along to Yellow Submarine straight away and he was only 4 at the time ;)
jddc_115
Clips are good... Beatles clips are great! Nice post and if you haven't seen the Beatles anothology I would highly recommend it, it's really well put together and on youtube. J.

charlie brown
From the Japanese perspective: (Wandering microphones, a missed chord, and all... ) I'm amazed they did as well as they did, with the archaic sound systems they had, back then...even in Japan!) Not a stage monitor in sight! LOL CB
LPDEN
If you're into Beatles covers, one of the better cover bands I've seen has been Ed Turner and Number 9. You can go from one video to the next and be amazed again and again...
jfine
Killer stuff! The Beatles, among others, were the soundtrack to my teenage years. I love those '66 clips--must have been their last tour. I had no idea that they ever played "Yesterday" live as a band, as the original was just Paul on acoustic guitar and vocal with a string quartet--that live version is way cool! "Nowhere Man" sounds great--the harmonies are right on, and they probably couldn't hear themselves. Shows what a great live band they were, and Lennon's been quoted as saying that they reached their peak as a live band some years earlier, in Hamburg in the early '60's, before the rest of the world ever heard them. bluelake07
... Lennon's been quoted as saying that they reached their peak as a live band some years earlier, in Hamburg in the early '60's, before the rest of the world ever heard them. and when I read about the contract for their employment in Hamburg I could see why they were so good live back then; they played a lot of hours! The group's contract was to run for two months, from 17 August to 16 October. The Beatles were to receive 30DM (£2.50) per person each day, paid every Thursday. Koschmider also paid their manager Allan Williams a commission of £10 each week. They were expected to perform for four and a half hours each weekday night, from 8-9.30pm, 10-11pm, 11.30pm-12.30am and 1-2am. They also had to play for six hours on Saturdays, from 7-8.30pm, 9-10pm, 10.30-11.30pm, 12-1am, and 1.30-3am. Sunday hours were 5-6pm, 6.30-7.30pm, 8-9pm, 9.30-10.30pm, 11-12 midnight and 12.30-1.30am.

charlie brown
Another Made for TV 1978 (D!ck Clark production) interesting, and pretty decent film (if not all that "detail" accurate, at some points) of the early Hamburg days, was "Birth of The Beatles." They sleeped beside the toilett of a porn-cinema in a very small room without beds. I´ve been to all that places in Hamburg `cause it´s not so far from my home. Really hard work to become so good and proffessional.
