Lets see your beater...

Recommended Posts

This is a great guitar paid like, $350 for it and it's in great condition but it's what I will use to take to my lessons or let someone use to jam or what ever. I was always nervous about putting one of my Gibbies in a gigbag to go to my guitar lesson on my bike...

Epi PR5e

It's good enough run through a board to sound pretty decent at a high plains cowboy music gig. Decent enough for some Brit video guys to say it sounded very, very good - and they'd done some music vids.

Beater enough that if a li'l buckaroo in too-big hat and boots stepped on it or whatever, it wouldn't be the end of the world, either.

Not worth beans for bluegrass, but even with super light 9-42 Zebra AE strings, it'd do for cowboy, acoustic blues or even probably some Gypsy jazz. For me it's also very comfortable 'cuz it's about the same size as the 175.

It's also incredibly similar in appearance to the short-lived 1950s Gibson CF100e that had a single pole pickup between the soundhole and fingerboard and a cupla big knobs on the lower bout to control the pickup. A rancher/singer/songwriter friend has the old Gibson. It's rare and I don't think you'll see many in captivity.

No, for what it's worth, I don't think I could get the thing away from him either with a basketfull of cash or even if you ran over him with a dump truck. Tough fella, that one, and a more than decent enough picker.

1998 Seagull S-6 cedar. I don't beat on it, it was already beat like this when I got it, but it's one I know I can just 'grab 'n' go". Best $100 I ever spent on a guitar.

Thanks, it's not really a beater, but a rescue guitar, it is a L-4 that had a rough life till I picked it up in '75 for $225.00, it has had a good life ever since.
