GotTheSilver
That's when it dawned on me that a new guitar, built exactly the same way and directly patterned on one of the best examples of the type, was a pretty rational alternative for me. I absolutely agree with this. To me, assuming the Legend series is truly built as true to the originals as they are purported to be, it is like buying a brand new guitar from 1937 or 1942. I can't say I really see a difference other than age and years of being played, which I will get to do the Legends. Bozeman is putting out great quality, so I don't doubt they are as good as the originals. Plus, with them being brand new, you don't have to worry about structural issues and the like. To me, an all around winner if you get a good price on one. As for 55%, I have seen L-00 Legends listed on eBay for $3,000 and not sell. That would be exactly 55% of the MAP of $5400. I believe I saw one sell on eBay for $2800 a few months ago. I really wanted to jump on it, but did not have the scratch at the time. Since this thread is totally off topic now anyway, I wonder why they have not done an L-00 True Vintage?
ParlourMan
Since this thread is totally off topic now anyway, I wonder why they have not done an L-00 True Vintage? Not so long since the Keb Mo was released and they've probably still got orders for Blues Kings for the 14 fretters but I don't doubt we might see one some time... Could also hurt the legend sales currently.

I bought one for just that price on ebay.

Red 333
J-45 Legend = $7,200 = I believe this is higher than what it had been, but not sure. Can anyone confirm? Yes. These were $6,799 until just a few days ago. Red
ParlourMan
Yes, I would guess it has..... I must admit to finding the legend upcharge rather prohibitive. They've had the designs already, x-rayed some samples, chosen the 'best' one and made a new template for that series, then rolled them out, we all know the custom stuff is done on the normal lines too with perhaps an extra nod or two from a head honcho, but the price is a bit of a steel-toecap in the teeth... In saying that, I thought +/- 4K (euro) for the SJ-200TV was pushing it, but I got mine for considerably less. Interestingly enough, Google lists not one for sale on the UK search site, bit of an indicator as to how many the shops think they can shift in the current climates perhaps? GotTheSilver
Yes. These were $6,799 until just a few days ago. Red 333 I got mine in "as new" condition on eBay last summer for $3350, a bit less than 50% of the MAP at that time. I have read on this forum of one going for less than $3k, but since I bought mine I think I have only seen them for $4k+, and not selling at that price. Yes, I troll eBay way too much!!! My understanding (having read it on this very forum!) is that Gibson really does not make money on the Legend series even at those prices! That is why the L-00 is by custom order only now, instead of hanging on the walls in stores waiting to be bought. Can't say that I have any proof to this, but that is what I read. A seller had an "as new" one on eBay recently, with a BIN price close to what Fullers and some others charge. I offered $4K but was rejected. I'm glad (and jealous) you and some others on the forum got such good deals on theirs. Red
