cluster
Hi, I just played a Jimmy Page Custom Authentic Les Paul (the most recent one with the single push/pull pot) and noticed that the two pickups are wired out of phase to each other. The only push/pull pot just splits the bridge Pu and that's it. The out of phase is wired stock. Is that the way it should be? or was this one of those Gibson F* ups that happen at the factory (hard to believe on a $9000 guitar). I thought Page had the out of phase via a push/pull but this is more a Peter Green style. Any comments here?? Joseph
FennRx
it is wired correctly. split on the bridge and OOP sound in the middle position. this how gibson says the guitar was wired when they inspected it for the CA replica. it doesnt matter though, none of that crap existed on #1 until after Led Zeppelin,

FennRx
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=889990 this contains a lot of good info, especially on clearing up the misconception that #1 is a 58 and #59 (both are 59s...well #1 could be an early 60)
cluster
If you listen to the opening riff of "the girl i love has long wavy hair", it sounds like an out of phase sound.
Archer993
If you listen to THE OCEAN it's an out-of-phase sound. There are other songs as well. From the books I have read Mr. Page DID have the mods during the LZ era.

I wonder what percentage is accurate though - probably 95%.
Bluesburst
Heres the overlay from the 97 Page LP with all pots push-pull operational. I got an NOS wiring harness back in 2001 to put in my Classic with Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pros (NICE!!!) Not too sure about all the other technicalities, dates etc but the range of tone is fantastic. The only issue I have is that if I put it in series when only the rhythm pickup is selected then it kills the volume. Not too sure if that's the way it's meant to work but the guide I have with the 21 different settings doesn't have one in that config so I guess it's meant to be that way. Thought I'd put it in the mix... Martin PS, My favourite setting is both pickups selected, in series and coil tap on the lead pickup. It gets the most sensational Les Paul hybrid telecaster "honk" to it. Great for bluesy, classic rock stuff
