J45
Hey guys I have a problem with a year old J45. It seems the first string (High E) makes a plucking sound when played like its hitting something. I changed the string, made sure the string was in both slots at the bridge & nut, adjusted the height of the bridge pin all to no avail. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Its too expensive a guitar to just let sit so if I can't find the problem myself I guess it will be off to a local luthier. Thanks guys...
BigKahune
. Take a look at the nut slot depth for that string, particularly the clearance the string has at the first fret. Sometimes when the slot is a tad deep, there isn't enough clearance at the first fret and the string can hit fret on the first few vibrations. If this looks like the case, you can fill the nut slot a bit with super glue and baking soda, set the slot with a file, and see if it plays better. .
