matching pickups?

How mismatched would it be you think if I replaced the bridge pickup in my studio with a 57 classic plus and left the 490r in the neck?I may do this and somewheres down the road put a classic 57 in the neck position,but would it sound hideous with a 57 classic plus in the bridge and 490r in the neck in the meantime?

depends i guess if you leave the 57 classic plus uncovered or not. But at the end of the day it depends if you like the sound and you shouldn't care what other people like

no,Its not that I really care what they think,just wondering if anyone has any idea if it will clash with the 490r

if you put a cover plate on both it won't clash in looks. Soundwise I haven't got a clue sorry

Thats ok,I'm more concerned with the sound,like when in mid position,both pickups on.

I have a beater LP studio that I stuck a 57 classic plus in the bridge position and it's perfect. Do it, you'll love it!

I don't think there are any rules... Experimentation is the best way to find a unique sound...
