cajunman831
I ordered me the 9-42 sets and the 10-46.I been playing for years with Ernie Ball 9-42.What strings you guys use or do you use just Gibson? I like the light strings, cause on my strats and teles, that is all I use.Never could adjust to 10,s.But i,ll give the 10,s a try when I get home ,on my new Les Pauls.I know Gibsons are good with 10,s due to the shorter scale as compared to 25.5 scale. jdriehuis
I swear by Ernie Ball 010's. Easy bending and strong as hell.
Flight959
Remember most Gibson's come with 10-46... I use Ernie Ball power slinkys... Hybrid strings are good too with various different guages in the same set.. Flight959
MikeRom
I love the bright wires. Sound great and last a long time. Very hard to find them locally tho, don't know what the deal is but the last time I found them at a store I bought the entire stock (4 whole packs). RichCI
I use WebStrings on all of my guitars; they sound good, they feel good and they're very inexpensive. I used GHS for over 20 years until another player told me about WebStrings and I haven't looked back. The only brand that I think sucks is Dean Markley. They claim their strings hold their tone for a long time (don't oxidize as fast) but I never got to find out because they broke like crazy. scozz
Hey cajunman, I also prefer light gauge strings (9s). Have you ever tried Ernie Ball Hybrid strings? I've been using them for years, (9-46). The treble strings are 9s, and the bass strings are 10s. Easy as pie bends with the 9s, and nice thick bass with the 10s. Give them a try. Ricky330
+1. I also use Ernie Balls, Rotosounds and Fender Bullets. I am currently in a Bullets phase. I like 0.11s! Ultra tone...
Les Paul Fanatic
I swear by Dean Markeley Nick Catanese Evil Twin Shotgun Set. 10-60 heavy yes but strong as f&(k.
xdamerx
I use Ernie Ball 11's, the Not-so-slinky ones, with a 60 for my low. Cause I'm heavy!
BuddleBobble
I tried a few before getting back to where I started, with the Brite 10s. Ernie Ball Slinkies, I didn't like, but couldn't really say why. I stuck for a while with the Gibson Vintage Reissues, which I liked, but they last about a third of the time the brites last. I guess being Vintage strings, you're supposed to boil them or something, but I went back to Brites. Each to their own, and all that.
:oilpit:
Billy Gibbons plays with 8's. Yeah so does Jimmy Page And EVH and Clapton use 9's Unfortunatley that doesn't make them cool I don't understand the idea behind thin strings, they don't sound as good IMO and I can bend 11's and even 12's just fine So I've deduced that they are just for lazy people.
