Tim Plains
The last time I went into a music store was Oct. 22. They told me Gibson prices were increasing on that day. I just checked out LA's website (local store), which I use to compare Canadian & American list prices. The old price on a '58 LP reissue was $3,150. Now, it's $3,450. Still better than GC.com...'58 Les Paul - $3,700.
Stewie
I heard that from my guitar tech last week. Apparently they went up 20%. It was great while it lasted. Last year I bought a brand new Stuido for 1099. Now we go back to the old pricing again. One thing though. My guy is holding the line on guitars that were "in stock" so bargains still can be had. Hall
Real smart business move considering the state of the economy! My Custom Shop R8 cost $2600 in 2006. As long as we keep buying, they will keep raising.

Guitarooster52
I noticed prices are up at all the music stores and that includes old stock. I'm glad I went for it over the last year and got the guitars I wanted. Amps are up as well, but not the Traynors, and as far as I'm concerned they're second to none. Murph
I just ordered a Studio Fireburst for my daughters 9th birthday. Got the "Hush" discount at MF. When I was looking at ES-335's I'd heard there was gonna be an increase here in the States soon. I decided on the ES-339, got it in Sept. The ES-339 is stupid cheap in my opinion, but pretty much out of stock. With taxes about to go up for Henry and Co., energy destined to go up now with zero hope of drilling HERE/NOW, my decision was to load up on a few things I wanted around the house. I don't want to break any rules, but the Les Paul was a good deal as well. She will freak out, and have a guitar to inspire her for many years, I hope. I didn't own a Les Paul until I was in my 20's. Doing business in the United States is very expensive. Gibsons are worth every penny. My thoughts are Gibbys are going to continue to go up. As well they should. It's the cost of doing business. Best to ya. Murph.

GuitarJunkie
So now I appear to be more of a "shrewd genius" than an "incorrigible gear-whore" for my exploits over the past year. I just checked out LA's website (local store)' date=' which I use to compare Canadian & American list prices. The old price on a '58 LP reissue was $3,150. Now, it's $3,450. Still better than GC.com...'58 Les Paul - $3,700.[/quote'] We're still getting a pretty sweet deal. $3,450 canadian works out to about $2,895 u.s. How many of you guys in the states would like to be paying $2,895 for brand new R8s?
Tim Plains
DO you think if the prices go up the used les pauls will be worth more online? Yeah, I think the price of a new Les Paul affects the price of a used Les Paul. When new prices go up, used prices go up. They're not like cars where they depreciate year after year until they hit zero. Their cost seems to remain at 70%-90% of the price of a new one...depending on condition and urgency to sell. Whether or not the guitar is 2 years old or 20, they seem to be worth about the same. I say this because all the ones I've seen locally are priced around the same, especially Customs. Be it a 1982 Custom or a 2006 Custom...same price.
