Motherofpearl
Just bought one of these j45s you know the first run of 167 off the agf. I've read some shady reviews what's going on are these junk?
JuanCarlosVejar
no ... the TV's are very consistent . and the 167 had upgrades like red spruce top so I'm sure yours will not be junk if it was well cared for. JC

Joseph P
everyone Ive seen does I read somewhere here that the 2007 came with Sitka, 2008 special run of 167 came with Red Spruce and from then on - Red Spruce.
ritchie69
The today's J45 TV still has the Adi red spruce top.

jannusguy2
I had one of these from the Ltd. run. Great guitar. I only let it go as I have a '51 J45 and a '53 SJ. These TVs are a great example of everything Gibson Montana is doing right these days. I'd be surprised if you aren't completely satisfied.

GotTheSilver
I read somewhere here that the 2007 came with Sitka, 2008 special run of 167 came with Red Spruce and from then on - Red Spruce. This is essentially correct. Originally, the TV series had Sitka tops. The special run of 167 had Adirondack (Red Spruce). After that, Gibson changed the spec and all J-45 TVs now have Adirondack tops. I have not played a J-45 from the 167 run, but my brother has a Hummingbird from that same run (they did 167 each of J-45, H'bird and J-200) and it is a really killer guitar!!! ritchie69
This is a dumb question, but what does VOS stand for? This forum has discussed a lot, for some it means Vintage Original Specs, other folks declare it means Visually Old Stock...for sure the TV V.O.S. differ from the TV for the finish treatment. The V.O.S. has a kind of patina on the finish that gives it an "aged look" that can be easily rubbed off with a polish.
E-minor7
This is a dumb question, but what does VOS stand for? Could it be Vintage Original Specs. . . . Ooouuuh, didn't see ritchie comin' -

ParlourMan
I see your point, but most people refer/understand VOS as the muted hue finishes Gibson applies to these models.
ritchie69
1333627415[/url]' post='1170810']Wouldn't a TV VOS be a bit redundant? If TV is true vintage - and VOS is Vintage Original Specifications...sounds like one in the same, no? maybe, but the vos version has that dull finish...that's the only difference.
