poor quality on a new Explorer Tremolo

I ordered a new Gibson Limited Run Explorer with Tremolo, and it arrived yesterday. I think Gibson need some new people in charge of quality control.

the checklist card in the case was blank, one side of the fingerboard looks like the frets are scalloped on the edges where someone oversanded that area for some reason, there's a cracked hole between the trem cavity and the pickup wiring route, and there's a ground problem with the wiring. those are the main issues. the trem cavity was also routed pretty sloppy, the locking nut has a plastic shim under it instead of having the neck cut to the correct depth, and the case lacked a truss rod tool and key for the fr.

there's no reason to send out guitars like this since they'll probably just be returned.

Today i bought a Gibson Explorer. Two crooked tuners, ground wiring noise and some minor finish imperfections.I was totally expecting to have issues cause this has became standard procedure with Gibson.I am sending back the guitar to the service so they can fix the wiring issue and maybe the tuners, the finish issues seems like will be fine with a polish but it is indeed very dissapointed. There were like 20 Epiphones and 15 LTDs in the store 1/3 of the price that was absolutely flawless

edit:Hmmm truss rod tool??? I didnt get one either.

Didn't get one with my Moderne and the dealer gave it to me in the box it came in in. I was a little surprised. I did need to make a minor tweak, but luckily I have no shortage of the darn things from previous years.

I got a few new Gibsons in the last couple months, and the others came with truss rod tools.

Check out the hole into the wiring route. Some guy did this, then passed it down the line. And some guy noticed he screwed up the fingerboard, and sent it down the line. I don't even know how they do the wiring like this, and then think they can send out the guitar. If you just plug it in, you know it's screwed up. It's not hard to fire people. Find out who these lazy morons are and replace them.

I believe the main problem is in the final inspection.Issues like these happens to any handmade instrument, but you cant send it to the customer.Crooked tuners has became a regular issue and its visible from 2 meters away but it passes the factory's quality control??

Are you really surprised about things like that? The Gibson company is over the years well-known for the often poor quality of woodworks, lacquer and so on. I know what I say, I had so many Gibsons in my hands the last twenty years and sometimes it was really unbelievable...

I mean this fairy tale of perfect, handmade instruments is kind of ridiculous.

Everyly thing from Gibson USA with the exception of milling and the metal work and pup winding etc. is all done by hand, maybe it was some guys first day, and it was passed on to some dude with bunk eyes, or a fella who's getting a little old, just send it back.

They'll honor their customers.

For all of these screwed up guitars, they put out 10x more absolutely stunning guitars.

I got my sg and everything was absolutely amazing.

No dings, no crooked machines, no finish issues and no wiring problems.

And I'm sure alot of people have had the exact same impression I've had with Gibson.

I got adjustment tools with both my recent Gibsons... Some do include it, but not all.

Sometimes you get a guitar that has a case of the mondays. I had a Gibson that initially was awesome, but after the first year developed a few issues that were corrected under warranty. Hand made is human made... not everyone in Nashville is perfect. Once in awhile stuff happens.

I have a new Explorer Tremolo and although I love the guitar, mine has the very same issues. I love the guitar and mine plays very well, but I was surprised to see that Gibson used the Korean-made Floyd Rose bridge (prototype photos showed this guitar with a Floyd Rose Special bridge, which is even worse). I didn't expect the factory setup to be good and it wasn't. I would have much preferred this guitar NOT had a route in the body for the bridge, but they could have finished it much better than they did. The edges are rough and just look unsanded. BUT, this is a USA-made guitar that costs less than $1400 with an included hard case so it's still a fantastic guitar at a great price. I do love mine - going to buy the Flying V Trem next.
