I saw them in that incarnation (B&T) at Rockin' The Rivers last summer in Three Forks, MT. (Ace was on the same bill). They were on right after Ace. It was a nice balance between the two bands. Ace got my heart pumpin' with some nice loud rock and roll, and B&T were a joy to listen to. They brought me off smoothly. Ace was the cocaine, B&T was the alcohol so to speak.

Agreed. Also they are one of those bands with a catalog that goes deeper than the one or two hits for which they are known on classic rock radio. I could gladly go the rest of my life without hearing "Takin' Care of Business" again - but there are some gems hidden in their catalog of albums.

I saw The Guess Who in their last go around. I think it was 2006. They were phenomenal. They did a few BTO hits, including this one. They did it acoustic. Randy is a versatile player. He was childhood friends with Lenny Breau, if I have that right. His playing shows jazz influence at times. Undun is a beautiful song.

Randy Bachman has been a very positive influence when it comes to being able to fix my problem with "GAS" and trying to explain it to my wife :) . To explain what I mean he does a radio show in Canada on CBC.ca called Vinyl Tap. The show on September 11th 2010 was called Guitar anthology 101. My wife listened to it and had a lightbulb moment. This moment ended up with me getting my Gibson Les Paul for Christmas [thumbup].

So if you have not listened to this it is really really worth it ;) .Maybe podcast it and play it in the car on a drive with your significant other [smile] .

Scroll down to the Sept 11 2010

Some of Randy Bachman's fat "Les Paul" sounds were coming from his Fender Starcaster that he endorsed and played during the mid 70s to early 80s.The Starcaster had an unmistakeable humbucker tone but it was more lush and bass/mid oriented in overall sound, such as in "Blue Collar".I don't know for sure what songs he played which guitar on but "Blue Collar" has a real Starcaster tone to it.
