ask28 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Does this stuff really work? Was it made for the that gunk that builds up on the neck? Even if I was my hands before playing it seems to materialize. I have never had this problem before.. what the #$#$? My friend's son's SG has it even worse. It's impossible to slide up and down the neck. I tease him by saying that it's from you-know -what-ing. I thought you just went blind....
SRV-Zeppelin Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I meant to say "wash" That's what the "edit" button is for. As for your problem... try wiping down the guitar without polish after each use. I use Gibson pump polish on mine but only when gigging to make it look nice. (fingerprints show up terrible on an ebony LP in the light...) Good luck.
MikeRom Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 The Virtuoso products will clean it and then help keep it clean. Makes it easier to wipe down as dirt doesn't stick as well. Good stuff. You won't be disappointed.
AXE® Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Othe polishes will work. But nothing, and I mean nothing works as well a s Vituoso Cleaner and Polish.
vagabond Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Speaking of polishing nitro finishes... What kind of materials would be good for general purpose/everyday cleaning along with deep cleaning? Would a chamois cloth such as a lens cleaner (specifically the Mira Kleen one) work? I wonder what other people use. Do you guys just use a normal cotton cloth or something more specific?
AXE® Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Lightly dampened lint free 100% cotton, or a micro fibre, or microfiber cloth. For the regular rubbin. I hardly ever "clean" my guitars, just wipe them down after use.(neck and strings)

I have the same issue on the new 335 and its not just because it has the gloss neck because my Les Paul gets sticky, but its not the same grime. I have a gloss neck on the Washburn as well as the Hofner and they don't have the same sticky grime issue. I'll look for the Virtuoso next time if I can remember.
