I picked up the latest addition to my collection today at the Dallas guitar show. It's a Reverend Eastsider. Sounds fantastic. Better than the many Fender American Telecasters I played today. None of them sounded quite like this beauty. It's a new model from Reverend. It is a signature model made for Pete Anderson. Pete was there at the show today and he played my guitar and then signed the back of the head stock for me.

In that last shot, the signature at the top of the headstock is a silk screen and the one at the bottom is the real thing.

I will put up some much better pictures tomorrow when I have better lighting and I may do an audio demo as well.

Ooooh. Awesome! I was checking those out online around the time my Telecaster GAS started acting up. I love the binding, and IMHO, the headstock looks way better than the weird ballet slipper on regular Telecasters. -Keep in mind though, that opinion is coming from a guy that likes the big old 70's headstocks. Haha. Anyway... Happy NGD! [thumbup]

Nice score, T. I've looked at the Reverends; they look very well made and seem to be a good value.

How was the show this year? I had planned to go, but had to cancel (my back has "gone out".) The guys I usually go with DID make to the show and texted (sp?) a couple of updates. I guess they visited a little with PRS and saw Eric Johnson, among others. They're not leaving Dallas until Monday morning. I'll get full show scoop from them later this week. Maybe my back will be "back in" in time for the Arlington show in October.

Honestly, the show was rather disappointing this year. It seemed as though there were not as many vendors as there usually are. Lots of empty booths as well. It also seemed like there were a lot less people there. Maybe I just went at a bad time (if you count Saturday afternoon a bad time). The turnout was definitely not as good as the last several years. I know this because I was actually able to walk down the isles without being crushed by the other people around me.

On the other hand, the guys from Reverend were some really nice people. The owner of Reverend was there and I had a nice chat with the guy that is in charge of manufacturing and quality control. The guitars are very well made. They use korina wood for the body of the Eastsider (the one that I got). I thought that was a cool twist since tele's are usually made from maple or ash. I played several different Reverend models and they all seemed to be made of good quality materials.

New Jay Leno bit: The economy is so bad that Uncle Ted didn't show up at the Dallas Guitar Show.....

Wow, that was a pretty bad joke!

I like Reverends anyhow. I usually support USA made companies for not using cheap labor in other countries, at least in their main products, but these imported guitars are freakin' sweet.

And me liking Ibanez (or any Japanese company) has nothing to do with cheap labor. They're not a US corporation that imports things to feed their wallet(s), they're a Jap company that sells guitars here.

Big difference! The arrival of Ibanez and Yamaha and other Jap companies was good; American guitar makers jumping on the import bandwagan was not so much of a great idea (even though I love the MIJ Fenders).
