BigKahune
. Unless you're going to bang the case around and drop junk on it, a TKL Gibson case is just fine. If you're thinking of traveling with the guitar then you might want to get a heavy duty case or a travel case. ........Caltron ........SKB - but not their thinline light guage cases. ........Gator - ATA line. . BigKahune
. My Gibson SG came with a Gibson USA case by TKL. It's sturdy, but I wouldn't trust baggage handlers with it. Here's an $98 unbranded TKL SG case (they make cases for Gibson) - http://www.amazon.com/TKL-7826-Style-Electric-Guitar/dp/B000EEJDPA/ref=pd_cp_MI_0 And a $199 Gibson USA case by TKL - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/gibson-sg-hardshell-case There's also the $199 Gibson Gear case by Tkl (same as the factory supplied case that came with my SG) - http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ASSGCASE?utm_source=none&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=none&gclid=CJKmkJzPyK8CFUrWKgodx1Dcaw
L5Larry
I really want to get the 200 dollar Gibson one but I still feel like I'm paying for the name. That $200 case is only $125 without the Gibson logo. http://www.firstqualitymusic.com/p_TKL-8826+BK.aspx So yes, you are paying $75 for the logo. In fact, the TKL 8826 may even be the "upgrade" from the OEM Gibson TKL case.
EVOL!
Both of my SGs are in these cases. The older one spent over two years traveling around the Midwest in it and the case is still solid as a rock. Canada case by TKL

cabba2203
Wow, prices have gone up. I have the gray interior TKL case for my SG Jr (I hated the "chainsaw" case it came with) and I got it new back in 1999 for $50. LOL - it was 13 years ago, so I guess it's gone up in price. Great Case, TKL is well made.
kaicho8888
If you're patient, check out GC. I got a mint case (returned and considered "used") and even had the checkout cards, warranty, manual, and a toggle switch for an SG in the case. It cost me $50. I also got a LP case that was new for $70 on sale. Craigslist also has mint cases at times...place an ad WTB SG case.

outforblood
what about the epiphone cases? Do you really want to put a Gibson in a Epiphone case?? haha (Now that I think about it, it might actually be a deterrent for thieves!)

jfine
My 2002 SG Supreme came with one of these. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/gibson-sg-hardshell-case I replaced it with an SKB case with the ATA-approved security-accessible latches. Great case!
vexorgtr
Everyone is pretty much right here... TKL is the stock case. You can get the unbranded one, and it's a good general purpose case. SKB's high impact plastic cases are stronger and weigh a bit less. SKB's can be a good bargain. I have an Epi Casino in an SKB... TKL and SKB are the only two I can think of that make a "ready to fit" SG model. The "Gibson" case is a TKL with an exclusive tolex on it.
brundaddy
I bought a used Epiphone case that's like new for $60. Works perfect and it was relatively cheap! The only difference I can tell is that Gibson cases have a combination lock & a cushier handle. Added bonus: Less likely to get stolen cuz people think there's a lowly Epi inside! Gibson cases do not have a combo lock. I have the TKL Canadian "Gibson USA" case that came with my 2012 '61 Reissue, and there is no combo lock on it. It has the white interior too. My case I got with my brand new "73" Les Paul Deluxe back then was a better case IMO. The compartment actually had lots more room for a cord, picks, strap, ect. The compartment in the current SG case leaves a lot to be desired.
Vega1
My SG that I purchased used came with a Gator "SG Style" case. I *do not* recommend these cases. There is an inch of room all around and your guitar bangs around. Hopefully thats helpful.
stringrazor
Some years back, I acquired a vintage Gibson V without a case. For a Christmas present, my wife got me an Epi V case from MF at 1/2 the price of a Gibson logo'd case (which is a little nicer, has a big compartment between the V's "legs"). It's a quality TKL case. I put a black GIBSON PURE sticker over the Epi logo. Works great. You don't play the case.

Hiya sorry just to add that some original Gibson TKL cases do come with a combination lock, the black/ grey lined ones have a 3 digit combination. I own one and they are great. :)
CoreyT
Thanks, I wish I had that case as I like the dark fur better than the white fur in mine.
Saxosim
Thanks, I wish I had that case as I like the dark fur better than the white fur in mine. Hi CoreyT thanks they are good cases although for security I think I would rather have the white lined one with the padlock fitting like you have than the combination one as it isn't quite as secure. I paid about £80 for my TKL Gibson OEM case used on EBay Cheers :)
