Bonamassa Signature Pickups?

I have a 2008 Les Paul Classic Antique, and after playing a custom shop 59 replica I have a longing for a '59' Les Paul, however I'm a little put of by the price tag!

I was wondering if some of the more knowledgeable people on this forum might think there would be any advantage to fitting the new Seymour Duncan Joe Bonamassa signature pickups?

I know those pickups are rather expensive, but a lot cheaper than buying a new Custom shop Les Paul!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ian.

For me 57's are the closest to PAF's because of their nasal quality.

You can buy them direct from Joe direct: http://jbstore.jbonamassa.com/equipment/seymour-duncan-custom-shop-joe-bonamassa-signature-pick-up-with-free-guitar-strap/

The PAF sound is a matter of taste and as is well known every 59 has sighlty different winds and setup so no 2 are alike.

The cheapest thing to do to get a closer PAF sound is fit bumbles bees and 50's wiring (Unless you have a plated model)

Many thanks for your reply.

I think, probably, the best thing to do would be to save the money that I would spend on the pick-up towards the cost of a VOS model (I know I will still have a lot more to find!, but having played one in a shop, I fell instantly in love with it, by far the best guitar that I've ever played (and the most expensive.

Many thanks for you suggestions, now to find my piggy bank!

Regards,

Ian.
