Fellow Gibsonites,

Is there anything revolutionary coming out in the near future, like the HD Les Paul or the Robot? I'm buying another LP this summer; something big...like a '58, '59 or '60 VOS. Just wondering if I should hold off to buy something else.

Also, does anybody here have a VOS? Worth buying? ON MF, there's a noticeable price increase from '58 to '59.

save your pennies, and tell he wife no Valentines gift, because you are going to drop $6000 on the copy of Page's 1960 3 pickup Black Beauty with Bigsby that comes out on Feb 15...or go in the lottery for one of the 25 signed for $25,000

How much do you want to spend....ebay can get you to swap the house for a /59 original

The ARTS in Newmarket has one of the Page double neck reissues for $7000

L+M Markham has a Steve Howe ES 175 - amazing, neck is like silk and very low action..$3500

L+M NorthYork has a beautiful Supreme Autumburst, blank ebony fretboard - one of 400 - $3300

( I am thinking of these last two depending on tax refund)

I'm sure the Page Custom sounds incredible, but I personally don't like that look.

Well, I've been looking at VOS prices online just to get a ball park estimate; a '58 runs around $3,000, while the '59 & '60 are almost $5,500. The only real differences I can see are the jumbos and plain vs. carved maple top. The '59 and '60 look smokin' hot!! I want one for an authentic sound and feel...don't think I'd miss the carved top much. I'm actually on my way to L & M to speak with them about VOS models. I will hold off for a little while because (sorry to say this my American friends) I'm sure the American economy won't be getting better anytime soon and if I wait a bit these babies will have to come down in price.

I hear Gibson is being taken over by an overseas company.

I hope they keep up the good work that Gibson has started.

Stay tuned.

oh crap!!!!i don't think gibson will ever be the same!!!

Don't worry. The overseas company is from Denmark, so there probably won't be lead paint involved :D . Also, the Danish company (TC Group) is merging with Gibson, so it won't be taken over. TC Group doesn't build guitars, they build amps, effects pedals, and other studio equipment, so hopefully they won't screw around with our beloved Gibson guitars. And hopefully our guitars will remain made in the U.S.A.

If I had the dough, I'ld be buying a flametop 50th 1958.

I've been showing it to my customers--I may still get one...maybe I'll sell more gear.

well yeah - I mean everyone knows just how inferior say Japanese cars are to American cars. After all, who wants a car that lasts longer, runs better, is easier to maintain (and cheaper to maintain), break down less and hold their resell value longer. Throw in their standard features are typically higher and I can't fathom why anyone would want one over a US car - so yeah, foreign products are indeed inferior
