vlad the inhaler
Hello all. I am looking at buying an ES-175 and the ones I have been looking at have the Gibson Deluxe tuners. I vastly prefer the Grover tuners on my ES-335. Is this an easy swap to make after purchase or does it require some drilling on the headstock or something similar? Thanks to all in advance. rossington88
I did this to all 6 of my Gibson guitars, the Grovers fit in the bottom holes for the Kluson Deluxes with ease. The only one I had a problem with was my LP Classic which had BUSHINGS in it. I had to take out the bushings and slightly broaded the holes with a drill, no cracks or anything, that guitar will now hold a 7 fret bend! Just a recommendation, GO FOR IT. Just a little FYI, unless you are a wood worker, have done this before or know what you are doing, have a luthier or a certified Gibson Tech do this job. By the way, the name of the tuners you want are Grover Romatics with Kidney Bean keys.
vlad the inhaler
Thanks a lot. I will have my guitar guy do it, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a huge production to get it done. I looked up the Grover tuners and they are not terribly expensive, so it really makes sense.
rossington88
Will be simple, just know above the tuners will be a small 1/2 hole where the top screw once was. It's no big deal, just figured you would want to know.
