aerohead
I recently purchased an SJ-200 Custom that I currently have on layaway til I get the last $500 saved up and can finally bring her home. I also have a Guild JF-30 which I love and take with me everywhere like a best friend. I bought my Guild new in 1995 and it has been dropped facefirst on a cement floor in a garage has had fallout from deet overspray all over the top and side and numerous other minor tragedies over the years each one being as painful as the last. Luckily none of these scars have changed the sound or playability other than some fret buzz after the face first landing which was quickly remedied by a little truss rod tweak but has definitely had some visual impact. I have already been fretting about getting the first scratch or ding on my new baby but at the same time I never purchase my guitars as an investment per se. Do you guys cover your belt buckles or protect the backs of your everyday playing guitars in any way or only your investment guitars? Not sure if the price I paid will make any scratches or dings anymore painful or not but every new scratch I get on my JF-30 still seems as painful (almost) as the first. dchristo
I dont want my guitars beat up purposely, but, Im not going to stress over every little thing...I bought my guitars to play and enjoy and if they get a ding along the way, so be it anyway, congrats on the new J-200 ( when you get it )
duluthdan
Depends what I'm playing - I'll wear a sweater or sweatshirt or untuck my shirt. J-45, nope, JB for sure.

Mojorule
The thread title sounds pornographic. I want my mojo to build up slowly over time. After a certain point I suspect I won't care as much as I do, because I know I've had guitars which were initially babied and then gradually became battle-axes, but currently I am careful to avoid wearing scratchy belts and I try to keep silicone at bay. My daughters are obsessed with silicone bracelets and I am careful to hide the Woody from them.

However, as the little things happen you stress less and less over it.
Mojorule
You just upped it... Oh no, it's all gone Brass Eye. You are not Chris A, but Chris Morris and I claim my five pounds!
Markini
Well, I either remove my belt, pull my shirt over the belt, or wear a belt with a minimum buckle. I do this on any guitar I play, high end or low end or GC or Ash guitars..etc..
