In a bit of a dilemma I want to buy a new guitar and(keep) it from wildwood but they will not ship to me here In Canada

Does anyone know of one of those places you can ship to in the USA and they will ship it to Canada? It's a zebrawood j45 something different but I hear they're great! From the guys at wildwood of course! I'm taking a chance here I know especially since I haven't played it

Thats interesting. Did you call or email them for a custom shipping order? One would think that shipping a new guitar to Canada shouldn't be all that impossible, unless its got Brazillian back and sides.

Can't you arrange for Fed Ex or UPS to pick it up..?

They can't be against that arrangement !

I had a similar issue when lusting after a lefty version of their "new vintage" SJ - they refused to ship to the UK.

So I asked a friendly US-based lefty specialist dealer to order it for me & then ship it on. I paid him something for his time & we're all happy!

Lefty so was it a store ? I don't mind paying someone for they're time either. I've seen that on the 12th fret awhile ago I want one with a burst as I already have a wm45 also the one at wildwood has a red spruce top. If someone can help me out pm me

With all of the recent problems due to the Lacey Act, I have heard that several stores have stopped shipping any guitars out of the US at all, even brand new guitars that do not have Brazillian rosewood.

Yup, it was a store. We're both regulars on another forum so I guess he was happy to help as he knows me in a cyber way at least!

Guest J-Doug

I'm in Ottawa and was dreaming about Wildwood's J-185 New Vintage. I guess I can forget about that one now. :(

How does zebrawood compare tonally to mahogany? I have never played a zebrawood guitar and don't really know anything about this wood.

Motherofpearl - I see you have changed direction from a Legend to the zebrawood J-45. Just wondering what about the zebrawood is drawing you to this guitar. As I said, I don't know anything about zebrawood.

I don't either! Just want to try something different. According to Troy at wildwood they are great. The legend was a mistake I seen it on eBay for a good price so I was considering it. But if I can make this happen I'll surely do a video up with this zebrawood and you can hear it

I have played the Zebrawoods at Wildwood and they are okay, however the older version from 2008 is a much better guitar, IMHO.

I owned this one and stupidly sold it last year.

The reason they may not want to ship to Canada is there could be restrictions in the Dealer agreement with Gibson which prohibits them from shipping new Gibsons to Canada.

Pretty sure that's the reason. That's a beautiful guitar. Why don't you like that run? Has better appointments?

It was a beautiful guitar and I sold it, at a profit, in a weak "GAS induced" moment.

The "limited" run Wildwood Gibson acoustics are very nice offerings and you do not see many resales.

The original run of J45 Zebrawoods had a run of 20 (Natural and burst) tops and sold quickly.

The also had a run of J45 Koa (not sure how many).

The recent Koa birds were a run of 10 and sold quickly. I was fortunate enough to try all the guitars Wildwood received and purchased "the pick of the litter". A keeper for life.

The Country Westerns were a run of 7 and sold quickly as well.

Some were better than others, however they were all damn fine guitars.

Not sure if you are still interested or not but bringing my new SJ-200 Custom back from Michigan was no problem whatsoever. Just brought the receipt in to customs and didn't even need to show the guitar. They convert the price to Canadian $$ and then add 13% for the HST.
