j45nick
Quite enjoyed this old guy's trickery around the 3-4 minute mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvKbbDBeBNo&feature=related Larry Hutcherson is a bit more than "this old guy....". He's got some chops, particularly when it comes to unusual instruments such as lap steel and resonator guitars, plus things like the electric ukelele. Check out more of his youtube videos. He's really good.

Just an off-the-cuff remark..... the rolling tone bar trick is outstanding. Loved it.

It's certainly a good advert of the fun you could have with one.

(May hang a bag under the guitar neck to protect my knees, toes and other sensitives while I perfect the falling slide bit....) Meanwhile, here is a clip from the very scary Bob: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=0Il1R4gBcjw BluesKing777.
Mojorule
The lap steels that strangely have not been discussed are the Rics (the Ric frying pan is regarded as the first solid body electtric guitar). They are a bit pricey but really great sounding lap steels. I gather the magnets in those horseshoe pickups are highly coveted with Ric freaks buying the lap steels just to get them. BluesKing777
A frying pan in action... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdTa9MzgF6s Wow! Enjoyed that! Sensational. Shadows song or Ventures originally? Beautifully played. The Frying Pan would be a little bit expensive, I am guessing, so here is the budget version that you can play while having a cup of tea.... http://www.musicswopshop.com.au/SwoppyItems.aspx?man=Tin+Dog&sort=1 BluesKing777. ParlourMan
I recently heard a version of sleepwalk where the guy who recorded it plays all instruments, the interesting part was all instruments he made himself, cigar box etc.... I'll try to dig out a link.
Mojorule
Written and orginally recorded by Santo & Johnny (Farina), out of NY. Covered by everyone under the sun. Yes indeed, including by Brian Setzer. Possibly even by the Shadows and the Ventures! Tried to find out the price of frying pans, but ended up with the cost of a new Tefal. I did find a page on the vintage guitars site (you know, with the light blue background and A+ to E ratings. Reckoning there was that only the early bakelite ones with a wider horseshoe are really desirable, but that might be a contentious and outdated opinion. If true, though, the guitar in the video is not a highly desirable version.
Blaster
I'm a fan of the old Rickenbacher lap steels from the mid '30s, if you can find one of the mid to late '30s bakelite models with nickel plates and horseshoe pickup give it a try you might like it/
