NEW CAR DAY!

My wonderful parents just bought me a 2004 Ford Mustang 40th Anniversary Edition. I'm extremely excited!

The best part is that it came with a cold air kit already installed and an extremely loud CAT-back exhaust system. The worst part is that it needs some body work and a good cleaning. The previous owner made some changes to the exhaust in order to add the exhaust system. It's a V6 which means that it's supposed to only be single exhaust, but the original owner modified it to be a dual exhaust with 6 inch straight pipes out the back.

It's a huge upgrade from the 1996 Dodge Stratus I've been driving for the last two years.

Here is a video I just did that demonstrates the exhaust sound on my Mustang:

Here's the pics I just took of it:

Consider yourself lucky!

I'm more of a Chevy guy (my "dream" car is a blue 68' Camaro with the white pinstripe!), but I enjoy Mustangs and Fairlanes (not to mention the GTO, Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Ferrari barchetta style cars, and of course, the Mercedes and the Porsche! Don't care for Rolls or Caddys.....) a ton. That's a killer car right there.

Now, all you need is a big stack of old Marshalls and you'll be cool....

Just kiddin', of course. Your coolness is based on what you are, not what you have or what you look like.

Enjoy the car!

Congrats-even the V-6 Mustangs pack a fair number of ponies under the hood. You should post some before and after pix once you get her fixed up.

Well the body damage isn't too bad. Most of it is just scratches and small dents. There's several places where the paint needs to be touched up, but other than that it's in great condition. There's no metal damage at all. The worst damage is that the plastic front bumper is cracked open in one spot.

I might take some pics tomorrow after I give it a much needed cleaning.

EDIT: The head light lenses need to be replaced as well. They are oxidized beyond repair.

congrats I love those Mustangs,a great body style.I should like them my first car was a 64 1/2 hardtop with a 260 v8 in it and it was turquoise green. Then i had a 65 Shelby fastback,a 66 GT fastback and a 1972 Mach 1 with the 351 cleveland motor that ran 11.51 stock at the drags. They are some great looking pony cars and you got a great year for body styling, clean it up and you will look dam good in it.

My dad had a 1964 1/2 Mustang that he owned from the early 90s to about 2006. That car was a monster. He bought it in California and it was all original. Canary yellow with the original 260 V8 with the generator. When he had the money, he had the paint striped off and repainted the car fire engine red with black Le Mans stripes. He replaced the entire exhaust system and had a 95' 5.0 engine put in it.

Now he owns a 2011 Mustang that he's made several upgrades to.

BTW, I'll put up pics at the end of the day! msp_cool.gif

Nice, it's a V6 but you could still do some mods so when you cross eyes with someone at a light you can beat them. Hope you don't do any exhaust mods! [lol]

Grats!

You obviously didn't read the OP. The exhaust on the car is heavily modded already. It sounds fantastic and it's extremely loud.

Aw man, don't leave that. I don't like it when cars lie. [sad]

It's really deep and throaty. My dad says it sounds like a big diesel truck but louder. There is no way I'm taking the exhaust off. It goes from the engine to the back end and the exhaust pipes are welded to the undercarriage. It was obviously done by a professional.

Congrats, looks like a lovely car with a clean engine in pretty good condition...I hired a Mustang on a visit to USA many years ago, went to the Grand Canyon from L.A. and back in it.

The only thing with any car I guess, is after a few years of carting amps & gear around, the suspension needs work!

Take care...
