Les Paul Fanatic Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Hey guys someone enlighten me and help me determine if this is a fake or not. I'm half tempted to get this one.
T50 Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 The saddle seems to be a wrong kind from what I can see in the pic.
RichCI Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Jeebus! You can see the saddles? I can't make out anything in those small pics to tell one way or the other.
Thundergod Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I thought I was the only one that got HIS pics very small... (only his pics, in different threads... very strange) First thing those ZW fakes have wrong is (always) the pickups... they come with EMG HZ instead of EMG active 81/85 pickups. But I cannot make them out from those pics.
guitar_randy Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I thought I was the only one that got HIS pics very small... Thundergod Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 When I first click on a topic in the gibson forum here that has photos' date='it opens the topic and the phoyos in it are real small, then I hit refresh and the photos get larger[/quote'] I know some people get that problem, but I have never, and I can see everyone's pics but Les Paul Fanatics'... I dont know why.
Simonphilipps Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Once I saw a fake chinese zakk LP and it was very similar to that one...with that zakk figure and the custom shop logo on the back headstock. Anyway you can give the serial to Gibson and find out.
leopold Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 the volume/tone knob positions look off. 1st vol knob is too close to the bridge (but maybe the pic?). bridge/tailpiece string angle looks sharp. the graphics don't look crisp enough the greens and browns look washed especially at the edges. i would say fake from those pics but run the serial number and get the history and better pictures.
Les Paul Fanatic Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 THIS PIECE OF SH*T IS A F&*KIN' FAKE, and I'll tell you how I figured it out. Look at the headstock. No binding, where as on a real one, yeah, point made. Sh*t good thing I didn't go and buy this p.o.s.
Les Paul Fanatic Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Plus, the paint looks too damn light.
Dynadude Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Is it for sale online? If it's on eBay, report the seller, and give their info to Gibson.
rocketman Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I know some people get that problem' date=' but I have never, and I can see everyone's pics but Les Paul Fanatics'... I dont know why.[/quote'] The first two pictures are small for me and the next is bigger (I'm using Firefox). Nothing changes when I hit refresh. IE had them all small but when I refreshed it I get exactly the same as what I see with Firefox. I also checked it out on my wife's mac using Safari and it's the same as Firefox.
king ian Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 sad to hear of people scamming musicians . good to hear you found out in time . btw , anyone making a fake can easy get the numbers off a genuine one and clone it . in this respect , i think this forum is even better than checking with gibson themselves . with me , all pics are small . even my own !! yet the smileys are HUGH !!!
Thundergod Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 ...very strange... I think this forum is haunted...
