Guest farnsbarns
If i had that money to spend i'd buy a Marshall head and a cabinet!!!! Halfstack baby!!! then i can rock the world Funny coz I'm looking to sell mine in order to fund a smaller amp, like a vox. If shipping to/from oz /UK wasn't so expensive we could swap. To answer the op, with that money I'd buy a handwired ac30.
Kelvinator
Have a couple LPs and a great amp, but I really need a vacation........
T Bone
LP Historic, flavor of your choice (yes, you can get one for this kind of money, but you must shop well- an R7 would probabbly be my pick, in Gold Top). -Or- Been really gassing for a Gretsh 6120EC, the Eddie Cochran Tribute guitar (has a Dynasonic and a Dog Ear P90). Good thinking :) Except I think his was a '52 USVRI... Oh, i will also get a 68 Drip Edge fender Bassman amp :) ??????? Drip Edge ???????
kaleb
FG1, you can rock the world with what you got now! Just cause' the Vox isn't a Marshall or halfstack doesn't mean it ain't a beast!
1998StandardSG
I would get: TV Panel Fender Bassman ($999.00) Epiphone Casino or Sheraton II ($600 roughly?) Gibson Melody Maker (Used 2008 $250)
ChanMan
create your own without commissions. Look into companies that have DRIPS programs, Disney, Pepsi, DuPount, and many public utilities have them, you can set up your own account, buy stocks at a 3 to 7% discount with the dividends and with pre taxed income...stick to large companies that have lots of cash little debt and have a long history of dividend payments.. Yeah... see you're not getting it. My wife is NEVER going to give me this for our 25th anniversary..... Although it might be something to look into with respect to future investments. Ok.... so I have Strats a plenty.... i LOVE my Les Paul.... I've been looking into the Historics, and I like the Hollowbody idea, but I have also been leaning towards a Marshall stack or half stack. I'm intrigued by the Victoria amps, though... So ES 335 or the Casino/ Sheraton?? Benefits/drawbacks to each?
surfpup
... but I have also been leaning towards a Marshall stack or half stack... Yes, Yes, Yes. Are you Marshall-less? If so this is a must my friend. You can get the hand wired 20 watt and a 1960TV cabinet for that amount and you will be in sonic bliss!

You can get the hand wired 20 watt and a 1960TV cabinet for that amount and you will be in sonic bliss! I'm not Marshall-less, exactly. I have a Lead 12, which is possibly the greatest solid state amp on the planet.... but I do not have the awesomeness of a true tube stack :). I'll have to see if I can find one of those 20W heads to try :). I've been leaning towards the YJM head that Axe has because it has the built in attenuator, but I wouldn't really need that for the 20 watter! I'll put 'em on the list along with the PRS and Carvin axes Damian suggested. (I'm pretty sure I can run across a PRS, but I may have to dig some to find the Carvin....) Thanks for all the great responses too! I've been under the impression we'd be spending less this time compared to the diamond ring/ Les Paul we did for our 20th. She just let me know in the last week that she's been looking in the 2500-3k range. It can be a bit overwhelming with all of the possibilities that money could represent, so I figured asking you guys was SURE to get me some input and maybe present some things I haven't thought of. And I REALLY do appreciate the financial advice. I think you are all spot on, and are suggesting things I have already done. (Except for Jaxson50's suggestion, which is something I'll need to look into) Geat advice, but not likely to happen as a gift from my wife :D

damian
I often see some nice Carvins on the MLP "selling" section....Sam Ash's online site has a link to all their store's used gear; I see plenty of used PRS guitars at good prices there......Of course there's many other sites as well........... Whatever you end up doing with your funds, I'm glad you are able to treat yourself to some nice new gear.........
ChanMan
I would save it but the OP says the money is "to spend" so I'd buy a CNC router table. Oh wow! See, THIS is why I started this thread. I'd never even considered power tools! Thanks man... any pointers on what to look for in one? (I see everything from a desktop model for 650.00 to this thing http://www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-Wood-Engraving-Machine-Engraver-Cutter-Router-1312-50-x47-2-2KW-spindle-/120923163294?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D320853356762%26ps%3D54 )

ChanMan
one of these maybe Yes. One of these will likely be on the shortlist... in some form or fashion. I'd like to look at the Epis and the Gretsch as well. Man I hope everybody gets the chance to do this at some point....It IS half the fun, the speculating and shopping around.... I truly mean it when I say "enjoy the hunt"

jaxson50
I am Jonesing for a early 60's Fender VI Baritone, an orig. ,,,and a 67 Bassman. Or a 60's ES anything, I sold a 1961 ES - 330 when nobody wanted them....the story of my life.
bonzoboy
Pick up a copy of the July Vintage Guitar Magazine, now that I know what you wanted to know what people would buy, there are some great deals on vintage gear like a '68 Bassman with a '68 2-12 Bassman cabinet with the rare "driprail" edging for well under $2000 and mid 60s Fender Mustangs and Duosonics in your price range.A lot of the companies will ship almost anywhere.Check out Lark St. Music,The Guitar Broker,Gary's Guitars and Chicago Music Exchange for starters and you'll be pretty well assured to find something to arouse your interest. JDK
EXCELLENT thinking.... but I am debt free and this money is in addition to my portfolio. Consider it to be a gift. Like a 25th wedding anniversary gift..... :D GREAT ideas so far. Congrats on the 25 years! I suppose it touches home since my wedding was actually today (yes, it really was). Long day, and can't wait to kick back and play some guitar once things settle down again.
Tman5293
I'd use the money to buy new wheels, tires, and long tube headers for my Mustang. I would also put some of it into having some paint work done on the car as well.

Aster1
This: and I'd put the rest in my pocket. Good thinking :) Kinda Me too. Mine's a 60th Annie but I might like your Butterscotch color idea better. For me it might be a Hummingbird or a Ric 360 12 string in Fireglo. Aster
Aster1
rct Beautiful color!!! Love the Surf Green too. I'd go for either with that dark fret board Aster
rct
Thing about that guitar is the bound neck. EJRW, only in a few colors, and getting scarcererer, so I need to get one this year I think. That tropical turquoise is definitely first choice for me, but because of the neck, I'd take whatever I could find. rct
