Casino F-Holes

Hello,

I bought a Casino very recently and I'm already very impressed with it. I plan on performing certain upgrades (pots, maybe pickups, etc) but even without the upgrades I can tell this is a great guitar. One thing that bothers me a bit about it is the black paint that was applied to the "sides" of the wood on the openings of the f-holes. I'm going to attach a picture to help illustrate what I'm talking about.

Basically, I was wondering if anyone here has an opinion on how hard it would be to sand that black paint of the sides of those f-holes? I know I would then need to apply a coat of finish (thin coat of nitro would probably be relatively easy). I just wanted to see what anyone's thoughts are on this and if it would be more trouble than it's worth? Thanks.

There was a thread about this in the past (not recently).

I think he ended up sanding it down, but I don't remember if he put any new finish over it, I don't think he had much difficulty getting it off though... [thumbup]

If I ever have a Casino (doubtful) and it's got that, then it won't for very long...

I agree, the black paint looks pretty incongruous on a natural finish guitar

Removing it should be easy enough with sandpaper, and you can seal the exposed wood with tru oil - just wipes on with a cloth or brush.
