4 Players for Dinner

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking... maybe you can smell the wood burning?

Why limit it to just guitar players? Let's say you can invite any 4 musicians.

Charlie Parker

Louis Armstrong

Jeff Beck (my hero)

Robert Johnson

John Lennon

I know that's 5 but hey I love to break the rules

If they don't even have to be musicians:

Marilyn Monroe

Marlon Brando

Martin Scorcese

John & Yoko (they count as one entity)

1. Mark Knopfler

2. Chet Atkins

3. Bob Dylan (this guy did everything together, and deserves all the respect in the world)

4. Eric Clapton

I think most of these dinner guests would actually get along.

forget about dinner. i would drop acid with jimi hendrix, jerry garcia, syd barrett and peter green. good times....

I would drop acid with all except Syd. I think he just took it way past the other side. Strage enough, I think acid with Paul Simon would be quite an experience. Every dose reminds me how much further I have yet to go in my journey (all my journeys).

Dylan is actually my favorite artist of all time. I don't want to meet him because it may change my perception of who he is. I like having a personal relationship with his music. What he intended to convey means nothing. What it makes me feel is what is important.

Greatest American songwriter along with Cole Porter, Woody, and the Duke.

I'm positive they would.

Dylan and Clapton, of course, go way back as friends. Dylan has written stuff for- and been a guest artist on- Claptons albums from as far back as the '70s.

I'm pretty sure Mark Knopfler has recorded with the other three guys although I'm not 100% about him with Clapton.

Clapton, however, has covered some of Knopfler's Dire Straits songs in his live concerts as long ago as the early '80's when Albert Lee was his 2nd guitarist.
