AlanH
SG Standards and SG Specials have the '50s neck with the more rounded rear profile whereas the SG '61 reissue has the slightly less chunky '60s rear profile. If you prefer the more rounded "baseball bat" '50s profile then simply scan the specs of the various LPs on the Gibson website to find out which models have '50s necks. newpicker
After more study, I think that the LP Classic Custom has everything I am looking for. The neck is similar to the SG Std and I want '57 PU's, which should compliment my SG's hotter 490R/498T's. Kinda like the wine red model since I don't see that many on the forum plus it will look good next to the heritage cherry SG, but mainly just thinks it's beautiful. Need to get to GC and hope they have one to see and play. Thanks-
quapman
Can't go wrong with that one(Classic Custom). I just got mine a few days ago. It's a real sweet feeling neck on it. And it sounds fantastic. Never owned an SG. Did own a 69 LP custom so I like the 60s neck. But as Alan said, the SG came in both versions. Make sure you know what you're comparing cuz the 50's and the 60's are completely different animals. Good luck with whatever you choose. But for me ,,, the Classic Custom is a keeper. Cheers man. Mine is definitely not the 50's neck. It is a slim neck and I really like that profile. The spec calls it a rounded mid 60's neck versus the slim tappered 60's neck of the 61' reissue. Glad you like your CC. It's next on my list.

I will second that. Without a doubt the Classic Custom is the guitar of the future.
