Tim Plains Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I may be trading my SG Standard for this LP Standard Faded. I haven't seen it in person yet, we're exchanging emails at the moment. We haven't talked prices yet, but I'm aiming for a straight trade. My SG lists for $1,500 and the SF lists for $1,575. It's a 2008...chambered. Just wondering what you guys think. Pics of my SG can be found through my signature, of course...
rmngretsch14 Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I love lp standard fadeds, although I prefer the tobacco bust, I think it's a good trade--but it is of course up to your personal preference in the end
surfpup Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 It's pretty. Nice color blend - not too much red - lot's of stripe. The fadeds are addicting. A lot of tone comes through that thin finish. Play it and see what you think.
Tim Plains Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 Wow, I can't believe I missed that thread. Bluemoon, you're the ******* best! I find it weird that he bought the guitar last week, created that thread yesterday and is selling it today. Anybody smell a fish? Btw...AXE, you're a ****!
Bluemoon Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Wow' date=' I can't believe I missed that thread. Bluemoon, you're the ******* best!I find it weird that he bought the guitar last week, created that thread yesterday and is selling it today. Anybody smell a fish?'] It was strange. I rarely go over there and when I do I usually head for the amp section. For some reason I went to the LP area and this was the first thread, clicked it and there was the same photos. It is pretty strange. How did you guys connect?
Tim Plains Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 Did some sleuthing at MLP and I'm pretty sure he's buying a 2008 standard faded tobacco. I found it through kijiji. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-musical-instruments-Brand-new-2008-Gibson-Les-Paul-Standard-Faded-Cherry-Burst-W0QQAdIdZ87350515
AXE® Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 How did you guys connect? I heard the Blue Oyster...
Tim Plains Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 Not that there's anything wrong with that... Man, talk about a fast judgement. I'm already thinking I should forget about this.
AXE® Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I'd steer clear Timbo. There has got to be something wrong with it or he got it at a steal and plans to turn a hella profit. Buddy..
littlekenny Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I'd steer clear Timbo. There has got to be something wrong with it or he got it at a steal and plans to turn a hella profit. Buddy.. +1
Tim Plains Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 No kidding! I don't care what reason he comes up with now, I'm out. I asked him why he's selling it in his thread. We'll see what he says...
AXE® Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I'm watching that thread also. I got your back. Don't make me drop the AXE on his ***...
Tim Plains Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 Cheers AXE! I'm watching it too, but damn it...I've got to go to bed soon...
Tim Plains Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 LOL! I just noticed you posted this in that other thread. I'm waiting for Kutcher to jump out and say "You got punked!!"
daveinspain Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Why would you want to trade a Standard for a 2008 Faded??? The Standard to me is a much nicer guitar....
RichCI Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I think that 1) you have enough LPs already and 2) you'd be crazy to trade a guitar that you (presumably) like and KNOW to be good for another without even playing it.
D4RK_4DV3NT Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I think that 1) you have enough LPs already and 2) you'd be crazy to trade a guitar that you (presumably) like and KNOW to be good for another without even playing it. You can have enough Les Pauls? I thought that wasn't possible...
FennRx Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 maybe if it was a CV Faded. otherwise who cares? trade/sell the SG for something worth a little more.
Thundergod Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I think you should get a faded... but you should go and try one first if you can... they are nice guitars (no, Im not biassed) I have played some and of course have found some that weren't as good. But I have found some that were as good and better than some standards.
Custom.... Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 If you like it buy it. It all come down to how it plays.
Tim Plains Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 I had a good laugh over this with AXE, but I must say...I think the seller was sincere. When I emailed him, he said he was decided he was going to keep the guitar and was about to remove his ad from kijiji, but the trade I offered peaked his interest. He emailed me back a day or two later and said he played another SG Standard and didn't like the neck. The only part I don't get is why he said he loved it soooooo much and immediately put it up for sale. Oh well, even if he wanted to go forward with the trade I wouldn't have. Why would you want to trade a Standard for a 2008 Faded??? The Standard to me is a much nicer guitar.... I tried trading my SG Standard for that LP. I think that 1) you have enough LPs already and 2) you'd be crazy to trade a guitar that you (presumably) like and KNOW to be good for another without even playing it. Love it...yes' date=' play it...no. It's a great guitar on it's own, but when you stack it against the rest, well... I would have played it first, of course. trade/sell the SG for something worth a little more. I'm working on a 339 at the moment, but I don't think the guy's gonna go for it.
Rocker_Gamma Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Don't forget the serial no. Just in case.
daveinspain Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 get the 339... You'll love it!!!! Or Check out a CS 356 same guitar only higher end and better construction, fits your better...
