AXE® Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 When I'm playing my Les Pauls, I notice that while playing in the lower register the tone and growl are like a sonic nirvana, almost heavenly. While working my way up the fretboard I notice no buzzing of the frets. In the upper register (12th fret and up) the thing screams like a raped banhsee. The pot response is smooth and clean. The neck pickup will cut diamonds at fifty paces. I've only had to do one neck adjustment in four years. The frets are level and clean. They hardly ever go out of tune. Is it possible I have fakes? Or is it the cocoa butter? sarcasm riddled post...
Bluemoon Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Sounds like you need to adjust your fingers. One a month I run my fingers over an electric sander. This ensures that the tips are smooth and removes any unnecessary wayward calluses. It also ensures that my middle and index fingers are symmetrical. You'll find that this will vastly improve your tone. I use carbon sandpaper #50.
MrMayhem Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I have those symptoms also I'm a little too far from the factoy to get them to take a look at it, ...... maybe a pole is in order
Bluemoon Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Another solution is to take a large screwdriver and just hack the sh#t out of your tailpiece. This will not only improve the tone, but also your guitar's value. FYI--make sure it is a Philip's head.
ALIEN8 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Nope, I think it's that Quantum Mechanics book you're reading. You need to put it away when you play so you have two free hands. Non sarcastic note about quantum mechanics; Axe, ever heard of the Tenth Dimension? Look it up online, if you haven't already folded time [-o</
myspace.com/jessenoah Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 will installing a pickgaurd on my fingers effect the tone? what about painting the strings?
Bluemoon Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 will installing a pickgaurd on my fingers effect the tone?what about painting the strings? Well, it helps to paint your fingers the same color as your pickguard. Painting strings helps, but it think the better investment is wrapping your guitar cord around the body three times. It helps shield it from RFI.
Thundergod Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 You have reached the top man... now everything will be meaningless and you will be bored for life.
daveinspain Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 With problems like those who needs good times???
Thundergod Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I heard this will improve your tone, while keeping PRS fanboys from scanning your mind for licks...
weeladdie Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 It is definitely the cocoa butter. ... Especially if you were sniffing it!
