help with grounds

PA.AXEMAN,

Slightly loosen your nut on your input jack, put a wire on it and tighten the nut.

Touch the other end to your bridge. If the buzz goes away then the ground wire to your bridge is not connected.

Just a thought and a place to start.

Technically, your guitar is properly grounded if the buzz goes away when you touch strings or hardware. on my les paul, the amount of hiss seems to change depending on the humidity, how much gain I have on my amp, or how much polyester i'm wearing...seriously, some serious static electricity can build up on the plastic cavity covers and pick guard. Was the guitar always like this, or did it start suddenly?
