littlekenny Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 The Gary Moore BFG http://www.gibson.com/en-us/divisions/gibson%20usa/products/lespaul/gary-moore-bfg/ The not so new Junior http://www.gibson.com/en-us/divisions/gibson%20usa/products/lespaul/junior/
Ian Martin Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 LOVE LOVE LOVE the Junior! For that price, would it kill them to NOT have a faded finish though?
Dynadude Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Both seem a little pricey. I know the MSRP is different than store prices, but still, I wouldn't buy either.
nikko18 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 i dont really like either of them that much, i mean if i was offered one id take it butt i dont know they aren't that uhhhh hmm i dont know a good word classy or something :D but thats how theyre supposed to be, it just their style. i really like the pickup set up on the bfg burstbucker in the bridge and p-90 in th neck. i would want LP standard with that pickup arrangement for sure.
Flight959 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Dont really like either of them. I see they have finally put a TRC on thr BFG.. Flight959
rybass Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 That jr burst is the shiz. I wish they would reissue the special at a notcustomshop price.
elessar820 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Dont really like either of them. I see they have finally put a TRC on thr BFG.. Flight959 The Limiteds had a TRC and switch tip. I know I'm biased, but the Gary Moore BFG has a great finish. Different knobs too.
AXE® Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Gee thanks Kenny.... That Jr is killin me.... Gots to have one...
elessar820 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 It boggles the mind that the MSRP jumps up so much just because of a name. Look at the BFG, BFG Limited (price increase due to finishes and $.50 worth of plastic) and the Limited and Gary Moore because of name. Also the Junior and the Billy Joe Junior. Don't get me wrong, if I had the cash, I'd really consider the Gary Moore, but it's crazy that a name adds value. It is good to see the regular Junior back and the BFG still in production. EDIT. The Gary Moore top in the gallery looks flamed according to the edges.. pretty sweet.
RichCI Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Seems to me that they're defeating a big part of the appeal of the BFG: inexpensive. All that Gary Moore model seems to offer for the extra money is a different finish. I also looked up some prices and there's a "Limited Edition" BFG that sells for $3,599.99 - $4,319.00 at Musician's Friend: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Les-Paul-BFG-Limited-Electric-Guitar?sku=512580 WTF?

RichCI Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 That still doesn't justify a difference of over $2,000 in my mind. You can go to whatever club in NYC where Les Paul plays on Monday nights and he'll happily sign any guitar you bring for free. Even if you live on the west coast, it'd still be cheaper to buy roundtrip airfare.
Thundergod Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 The JR is the same as before... isnt it? The BFG I just hate... ok not hate... it looks kindof nice but... what's with the "gary moore" "most incrdible les paul gibson hass ever put out" ... damn it's a normal BFG but with propper knobs and TRC and a different finish, so what's the hype about? Somehow I doubt we'll se GM playing one of those.

I'm in Waldwick up in Bergen County, but I'm originally from Edgewater then Manchester.
RichCI Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I'm originally from Hopewell but now live in Belmar at the shore. I went to college up around you way at William Paterson (when it was still a college and not a university ).
elessar820 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I'm originally from Hopewell but now live in Belmar at the shore. I went to college up around you way at William Paterson (when it was still a college and not a university ). That's cool. I actually graduated from there too in Jan. '06. They added 2 more dorms and built an addition that connected the Student Center with Wayne Hall. It opened after I graduated though. It looks nice however.
RichCI Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Cool! I saw some photos of the new dorms in the alumni newsletter; they look very nice. I lived in Pioneer (apartments); I think it was room 409. College was a LOT of fun! Do the Student Center and Wayne Hall still use that gawdawful canned "cheese" on the nachos?
elessar820 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I was in Towers, Century then back at Towers in a single. No, I never noticed any nachos, then again I rarely ate at Wayne Hall. I got sick too many times. But we had a Starbucks in the Student Center. Anyway, back to the topic at hand... the Junior has a regular P90 and the Billy Joe has an H90, does the H90 still sound like a regular P90?
slimjimdom Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Oh yeah! I'm getting a junior. I wonder when they will be available.
slimjimdom Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 The JR is the same as before... isnt it? Somehow I doubt we'll se GM playing one of those. Not so fast TG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrK8nPPNsZk
stymye Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I'd like the BFG better if they finshed sanding the top smooth.
fingers galore Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 WTF? That Bfg is overpriced. I doubt Gary Moore would ever play that guitar anyway.
elessar820 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Not so fast TG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrK8nPPNsZk Good find fellow BFG guy.
slimjimdom Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Good find fellow BFG guy. Ah yes, No problem.
fingers galore Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I doubt Gary Moore would ever play that guitar anyway. Damn, I stand corrected. Gary Moore does play Bfg's after all.
