no not really. I like the colours of the humming bird true vintage but i like the inlays and the look of the hummingbird koa to. They probobly sound about the same.

be careful. koa is a different animal and not everyone likes it. tonally, it sits somewhere between maple and hog but it has been my experience that it lacks bass end. better suited to finger picking as it can get a bit harsh and sharp with strumming. the tv would be the way to go but play some first. the koa is blinged out if your going for the looks. koa jumbos seem to be have a more complete tonal spectrum. the taylor k15? i think is the model. there is a j200 koa that will cost you a first born, left leg etc....

Well....the Firebird is pretty rare, but I have one, and am REALLY happy with it. It just has a power to it....although it is not the 'Standard' traditional Gibson, it is handbuilt by Ren, and is REALLY beautiful in person. But if it didn't sound as good as it does, I wouldn't be happy with the beauty. I would say consider it...

it has to be the TV Bird. The Doves In Flight is lovely, but the Bird is a real 'one guitar for life' style instrument. As much as I love my SJ200, I think my Hummingbird MC runs it very, very close for a desert island guitar.

i, for one, would like to take a poll to see what everyone's current fave is but i dont know how to set up that poll thing. my faves change weekly, it seems. when i first joined the forum it seemed like the j200 and the j45 were king and queen but there's alot of aj's, birds and doves, 00's and smecks out there, too. maybe someone can set up a thread with all the models listed and we'll have a better idea.
