Hi! I want a (as close as possible) replica of the SG Standard. I've seen an epi SG Standard and the SG g400 but I've noticed that some reviews imply that the 400 is the replica of the Standard, not the Epiphone SG Standard. What's the differences? Thanks!

I think the G400 is the one with the set neck, whereas the standard has a bolt on neck.

Go for the one with the set neck, as this is the true replica. Any store assistant will be able to tell which is which.

That was my first decent guitar. Enjoy it.

i still have my g400 from 2001. only suggestion, get some thicker pickups. i put a dimebucker in the bridge and a jb 59 in the neck. other than that it feels great, but beware: try out 5-7 g400's before you buy one, ive found the range of quality to be wide

Thanks! My problem is that I can't find anything about an Epiphone SG Standard. It says Sg Standard on the head whereas the g400 I think just says SG.

I thought the epi standard was a lower in the food chain than the 310. The lowest actually. My youngin has a SOBE Adrenaline Rush that I think is a standard. No pickguard etc. but it has some nasty pickups. They read 17 and 13 ohms.

edit: Naw its a special. They still make a standard?

Ok, near as I can gather, peeps use the term "standard" to describe the g-400s that were made in Korea that had exceptional craftsmanship that rivaled and some say surpassed that of Gibson in an effort to depict them from the China made g-400s. They were still actually called a g-400.
