He says he is well aware of the dark images and persona that surrounded Cash and often saw it, but that "the" John Cash in this video is pretty close to who Johnny was. jedzep Posted July 12, 2012 Share Posted July 12, 2012 I never liked anything about Johnny Cash, but the 'mountain' music tradition of the Carter family and guys like Doc Watson carries on and still inspires a lot of porch swing pickers. I had never heard of Cowboy Jack Clement but started listening to his Sat afternoon radio show on Sirius/Xm channel 60, repeated on Sun., and love hearing his old studio stories and great playlist selections. I can't take popular CW music, but that station, called Outlaw Country, circumvents that hokey BS genre and digs into the country roots but also includes guys like Dylan, Prine, Almann Bros. and ZZ Top.
