57classic
Beautiful guitar and Greg Lake is excellent but that pickup is dreadful. Sounds like an Ovation.

EuroAussie
To be honest it was difficult to recognise it as a J-200 as there was so much piezo quack. I guess the live set up options 20 years ago weren't quite what they are today.
zombywoof
Lake, of course, used a J-200 to record "Lucky Man." Gibson once made him a custom guitar that looked like the offspring of a J-200 and a Zemitas acoustic (which he also played). He sure does like his J-200s though. j45nick
I think Lake is trying to "fill up the space" by replicating as much of the 12-string ambience that he could with the J-200 six. I agree that it doesn't work too well. Always loved the jazziness of this song (and some other ELP stuff), but on the whole I found them a bit too self-consciously "artistic". BigKahune
. Beautiful guitar and a very nice performance of cool song. He got the sound he was going for - there, live. Who knows how it was piped into the video. He might have tweaked the sound differently for a recording. There's plenty of artists that use different setups and guitars for studio recording than they use for a live performance. .

kidblast
kinda sounded like a taylor with new strings.....he definitely need a better pick up system I have two Taylor's with various pickup systems, I can assure you, they DO NOT sound like that plugged in. that said, I loved the performance, and that is one of my favorite ELP songs. Jeremy Morton
It is not the Pickup but the mix of effects. He is running a ton of chorus so he is not really looking fopr a very acoustic sound on this recording. JM
