quapman
So I have noticed there are some Frank fans in this forum. Can I hear your stories? What concerts did you see? Favorite tunes? Favorite band members? Favorite albums? Favorite interviews? Ever see Dweezil live? Zappa Plays Zappa? I've seen Frank twice,, and I've seen "Zappa plays Zappa" twice. Since the former is impossible, I highly recommend the latter. Both were amazing!! Look forward to hear from any other Frank Fans.
Zeppelinguy
Yeah, me! Big Zappa fan. Too young to have seen him live, but I'm planning to go see Dweezil in the near future. As far as favorite members go... Adrian Belew! And Captain Beefheart, among others. I like everything by Frank but Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe are probably my favorite albums. I've seen way too many Frank interviews. His appearance on the D.ick Cavett show is one of my favorites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftNfZF7QpEo

Ya I highly recommend seeing Dweezil. Zappa plays Zappa. He has an awesome band and they play Franks tunes perfectly. Which is not easy to to do. Every one in the band is really good. pippy
Long-time fan here. Zeppelinguy posted this clip a while back (thanks again, ZG!) and I thought it was worth re-posting here for anyone who hasn't yet seen it. As I said back then, the bit I found most fascinating was when he plugs in a regular "SG" (3:10ish) to show just how much Frank's one differed from a production model. Extraordinary!... Enjoy! http://truefire.com/...l/dweezilsnakes P.
57classic
FZ was not only a great musician and composer but very funny. I always get a yuck from this clip of him playing the bicycle.

surfpup
Hot Rats and Apostrophe are my go to Zappa albums. I'm less a fan of some of the real early experimental stuff.

I will go again if I get the chance. I was skeptical at first about seeing them play Franks music. But note for note, they pulled it off. They really did their homework and learned the music. All the way back to Freak Out. Highly recommend.
1998StandardSG
I remember getting into Zappa when I was going into 8th grade. Somebody recommended for me the get the Apostrophe album after they bought me the Yes album Fragile (cool album though not Zappa related). the next one I purchased was Joes Garage Acts: 1, 2, & 3. Good stuff. There is an awesome segment of Zappa on Crossfire back in the 80s or 90s when the censorship stuff was going on. It is funny to see how the suits were acting but Zappa was totally cool and sometimes sarcastic which I think just proves how much artistic people have more sense even though they may have eccentricities and other crazy habits. kaleb
Some of my favorite lyrics ever were penned by Mr. Zappa. "The price of meat has just gone up, and your old lady has just gone down!" I also dig the stuff with Steve Vai on guitar.

Yep, I remember it well and was following it's progress at the time. He kept his cool and the interviewers looked pretty silly trying to provoke a reaction. It was only until about the beginning of this summer actually when I really started to really get into Zappa. But I could've told you who Frank Zappa was since I was about 8.
