Elmer
In the shop where I usualy go for my strings, hangs a beautifull L4 (dark red color) the guy said it is the first L4 made in europe in 2011. I did not really payed attention as I was playing on the L4....but now at home...I wonder, first one in 2011 shipped to Europe or actually made in Europe? Are there European Gibson factories? It played fantastic...It was 2nd hand but mint...Maybe I ask him to trade it with my Es175 reissue (maybe, But I thought it played and looked better than my ES175...and I cannot afford an other guitar in that price range yet...so maybe he wants to trade)

Elmer
I googled it before I posted , could not find anything so I thought lets I go to the wizards here... Thanx. I go back to the shop and ask what he meant then. If both guitars are mint...I think it would be a fair trade...and the balance leans to me. Now get the dude over the line...mine is a very cool sunburst...sells better than cherry is my argument...lol I gave you a +1 for the google work, thank you
Versatile
Yes indeed...there are no Gibsons made in Europe !! For general interest etc though... It can be informative to check out UK luthier Gordon Smith Who has often been described as the 'English Gibson' Handmade...mostly solids on a LP and LP Junior theme With occasional forays into Explorer and Flying V territory The hand-wound pickups are pretty good too... Geert1976
During the late 70's, some body parts for semi-acoustic Gibsons were made in West Germany by Hoyer. They made solid tops for several hollow en semi hollow Gibsons. The Hoyer company made guitars themselfs and they were of a very goog quality and could compeat with the Gibsons Gretchses etc.
Markini
I believe that Canada is the only country outside of the USA that ever produced Gibsons. And most of the guitar parts came from Montana, then shipped to Canada for assembly.

Otherwise the Canadian F&WS might confiscate them for violating Indian law which also violates US Lacey act even though Indian law allows the export.. Unless, of course they got Indians to bring them across the border. (probably Lakota)
