Gday all. Been some justified love for Martin 15 and 18 series amongst the Gibson afficionados on this board.Count me in-especially the smaller bodies. This was my favourite guitar till I got a J-45.But I still really enjoy it.It's a 2004 OM-18V...Spuce Top, Mahogany B& S, Ebony Fretboard, 1 3/4 nut.

Recording is a little boomy at times but I think you can get an idea of its dry woody tone.

And I've spared you my guitar face as it was approaching 8.7 on the Richter Guitar face scale trying to get those high notes.

Cheers all.Enjoy the weekend.

EA don't cut your holiday short...it's not THAT good [biggrin]

Managed to find some wifi connection and took a listen. Sounds good to me FB, not quite as earthy, honky tonk as the J-45 but quality and rich tone nevertheless. I think the fundamental, woody mahogany tone is great in accompanying the vocals. Your Martin reminds me quite a bit to my Furch OM which is similarly voiced to the Martin OM18v. Infact when i play out live with it I use an OM18v image on my Aura Sprectrum.

FB is right about these Hog Martins. They are really very nice. I'm head over heels for my 1960 D18 (and my 016NY and 017). I used to turn up my nose at them as they are rather plain looking but after playing a couple I succumbed to their simple beauty and sonic power.

I just won a 2012 Martin Marquis 000-18 Ebay auction. I wanted the short scale of the 000 vs the long scale of the OM. Has all the specs of the GE except the absence of Brazilian (Madagascar instead) on the headstock overlay. Gonna have to learn that song. I love Julie London's version.

Congrats Jannus.

My OM Martin needs a little adjustment to the action.Just a tad high now. That's probably more problematic than usual as it has a glued in saddle. Not sure if they just did that on the V series.

I got the chords for this from a site called The Guitar Guy.he has arrangements for all the old jazz standards. Some need the odd tweak but they are good starting points.
